As other chains like Starbucks and Kroger stores are slated to stop giving frontline workers the $2 and $3 per hour boosts they've been receiving since the COVID-19 outbreak started, Target shocked customers and employees alike with news that they would continue to dole out the appreciation pay a little bit longer.

CEO Brian Cornell told employees of the exciting news on Monday, May 18. Cornell revealed that the Minneapolis-based company will continue providing increased benefits to frontline workers for two additional months.

In case you missed it, stores like Target, as well as other grocery and food chains, announced in early March that they would be offering the temporary pay increases to employees on the frontline of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Target will also continue to provide a 30-day paid leave for those who have underlying medical conditions, are 65+, or are pregnant (applications are open through the end of June). Free access to child care or care for a family member will also still be offered through their backup care benefit.

Wow, it really seems like Target cares about its employees at this difficult time.
