Taylor Swift‘s self-written and directed music video for “Lavender Haze“— the opening track off her hit record Midnights— is finally here! In the visual, the Grammy winner, 33, dons a number of chic and cozy looks (including an oversized tee worn as a dress and a 70s-esque knit top from one of her recent TikTok vids), but her white, lace-adorned mini slip dress has to be our ultimate fave.

Taylor Swift Flaunts Her Sculpted Legs And 70s-Inspired Style In Lace Mini And Faux Fur Coat

The sultry, sleeveless piece features white floral lace at the neckline and in cut-outs in the silky fabric along the thigh-skimming hemline. Over this, the “Bejeweled” hitmaker added a light violet fur coat by Free People, specifically the brand’s ‘Renata Faux Fur Coat,’ that fans have also seen in a previous TikTok of hers!

The “Anti-Hero” singer’s dress helped highlight her long, toned legs and is the latest 70s-inspired ensemble she has rocked. Swift kept with this theme when it came to her hair look for the video, worn down, styled into loose, beachy waves and resembling a shag with the help of her bangs. As for her makeup, the songwriter stunned in glittery, shimmering eyeshadow, thick black eyeliner, voluminous lashes, and a glossy pink lip to top it all off.

In the video, Swift can be seen laying in bed in an oversized tee, discovering a smoky, apt lavender-colored haze and other dreamy elements, dancing, and also rocking the knit top that Swifties saw in one of her 2022 TikToks while promoting her tenth studio album.

All About Swift’s Romantic Track Inspired By Joe Alwyn

Regarding the lyrical and thematic inspiration for “Lavender Haze,” (which fans are certain is about Swift’s longtime love Joe Alwyn), Swift said in a video post last fall, “I happened upon the phrase ‘Lavender Haze’ when I was watching Mad Men, and I looked it up because I thought it sounded cool.” Swift went on, telling fans in the clip, “And it turns out that it’s a common phrase used in the ’50s, where they would just describe being in love.”

The “Lover” crooner continued, “If you were in the lavender haze, then that meant that you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful. I think a lot of people have to deal with this now, not just like ‘public figures,’ because we live in the era of social media, and if the world finds out that you’re in love with somebody, they’re gonna weigh in on it.”

While Swift didn’t mention Alwyn (who she’s been dating since 2016) by name, the musician did say that in her current relationship, she and her partner have had to keep their heads up while facing public scrutiny. “Like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it,” Swift said. “And so this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.”
