When Blake Lively became the villain of all the It Ends With Us drama, she lost more than her social standing in Hollywood, she lost one of her best friends—and the godmother of her children. Lively was famously a part of Taylor Swift’s girl squad, but ever since she dragged Taylor into her lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, there’s been a major rift in their relationship, and according to reports, the “Cruel Summer” singer is thinking of making it even deeper by revoking her role as godmother. Keep reading for more information.

Taylor Doesn't Want To Be Godmother

It's been known that Taylor and Blake aren't speaking, but fans were still shocked when Blake was silent—publicly, at least—when Taylor announced her engagement to Travis Kelce. The rest of her girl squad, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevinge, even former bestie turned enemy Karlie Kloss offered up their congratulations. But nothing from Blake.

It seems like this was the last straw for Taylor, who, according to an insider, is ready to draw a line. "Taylor feels like she has no choice but to draw a line. Their friendship collapsed months ago and she doesn't want blurred obligations lingering," the source explained.

"That includes her godmother role. She's already considering issuing a formal notice, either through a mutual friend or even a lawyer, to make it clear she's stepping away."

"This goes beyond the question of a wedding invite," the insider added. "It's about setting limits. Taylor doesn't want the godmother role hanging over her or being used against her. She wants to close it off clearly, and that could mean doing it in a formal way."

Blake Lively & Taylor Swift's Fallout

As It Ends With Us costars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni launched lawsuits back and forth at one another, Taylor Swift unfortunately got caught in the crossfire. In Baldoni's January 20025 defamation countersuit against Lively, he references a "megacelebrity friend" that pretty much everyone took to mean Taylor Swift.

He notes that this celebrity along with Ryan Reynolds pressured him to accept a script rewrite from Lively. One text from Lively allegedly referred to Reynolds and "Taylor" as her "dragons," inspiring the metaphor that she had powerful protectors."

On May 9, 2025, Baldoni’s legal team subpoenaed Taylor Swift as a witness, seeking her text messages with Lively, claiming they could be "relevant evidence." Taylor's spokesperson immediately shut this down, saying that she had absolutely no creative involvement in the film.

Baldoni’s lawyers also claimed that Lively’s team attempted to pressure Swift into publicly supporting Lively—suggesting that if Swift refused, private text messages might be leaked. They also alleged that Lively asked Swift to delete certain texts, which, of course, Blake has vehemently denied. But things worked out in Justin's favor, as a judge ordered Blake to produce relevant text messages with Swift to Baldoni’s team. Surprisingly, though, a few weeks later, the subpoena for Taylor was withdrawn. Sources said the needed information had already been obtained.. and many fans thought that meant Taylor handed over the necessary information without a fight.
