The Grammy winner's new "era" is here, and the internet is going crazy over it. Today, on October 3rd, Life Of A Showgirl, Taylor's twelfth studio album, hit streaming platforms, marking a new chapter of her career. A lot has happened for the singer since writing and putting out this record, including her end of the iconic "Eras Tour" and her engagement to star football player Travis Kelce.
Therefore, when she announced the album on Jason and Travis Kelce's podcast, New Heights, last month, fans became super excited, with many of them surprised to hear that she already had a new record out, considering she was still coming off the Eras Tour and had released her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, last spring. For the new album, which has an old-school, Hollywood glamour showgirl theme, Taylor really played the part when it came to the photoshoot for the cover and additional artwork.
In newly released photos, which can be seen here, Taylor posed in a blood red bedazzled bodysuit, which had halter top sleeves that looked like red ribbons wrapped around her shoulders. The bodysuit was complete with matching, silky red gloves and had red beaded tassels hanging from her hips, similar to her red look for last year's Grammy awards. Her look was completed with fishnet tights, like a showgirl, and matching accessories, like ruby red earrings and red lipstick.
The Internet Reacts To Taylor's Album Photoshoot & New Songs On Social Media
After seeing the new pictures from her 'showgirl' photoshoot, the 35-year-old's loyal fanbase thought she looked amazing, praising her looks and the album's styling on social media, as they have been since she began gradually teasing her new record. However, the music itself is another story.
Life Of A Showgirl contains 12 new songs, many of which are already controversial for her choice of lyrics, which many internet critics have said aren't making as powerful or big an impact as her past songs have. There are lots of songs presumably about her football-playing fiancé, as well as a potential diss track intended for fellow pop icon Charli XCX. Still, at the end of the day, the album isn't getting as much great feedback from her listeners and the internet overall, which is unusual for the mega hitmaker.
"The album was so incredibly boring it does not warrant these photos," wrote a Reddit user under pictures of her album photoshoot.
