Prince Harry just made history as the first royal to ever appear on an American late night television talk show, appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last week. He cracked jokes and acted in a skit, but the reviews are mixed, with some critics even calling for King Charles to strip him of his royal titles, saying one of his jokes in particular undermines royal dignity and neutrality—more on that later. Prince Harry On 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert'
The Duke of Sussex joined Colbert in a skit, in which he auditioned as himself for a "Christmas prince" role for a Hallmark movie, joking that he was there for the "Gingerbread Christmas Prince saves Christmas in Nebraska" film.
Colbert went on to ask him why he, a real prince, would want to play one in a film, to which Prince Harry said that Americans are "obsessed" with Christmas movies and royalty. When Colbert questioned this, Prince Harry responded, "Really, I hear you elected a king?"
Though they didn't confirm this, it's pretty clear that Prince Harry was making a jab at Donald Trump, referencing the "No Kings" protests that occurred in October of this year. Colbert's had his own troubles with Trump this year—his show was taken off air for a brief stint following his critics of Trump—which Harry didn't waste time touching on either.
Explaining that he'd "do anything" to get the part, he said, "I'll record a self-tape, I'll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House—all the things you people in TV do." To which Colbert replied, "Hey, I didn't do any of those things," and Harry cheekily responded, "Maybe that's why you're canceled."

Social Media Reactions
While many fans found the skit funny and entertaining, others thought it was inappropriate given his role in the royal family. "What's wrong with him?" one person asked on Instagram. "Why did he do something so ridiculous? Unbelievable."
"My god what has he become?" another person said. "He really hit rock bottom."
"The most cringiest thing I've seen...really sunk to the bottom of the barrel Harry," another comment reads. "So embarrassing."
Others championed the prince for going somewhere other royals haven't in the past. "Great to see Harry living his best life," one fan wrote on Instagram. "Away from the confines of the archaic royal duties. Something his mum never got the chance to do."
"Prince Harry is adorable!" a final fan said. "He has a great sense of humor!"
