Put Your Tea in the Microwave

According to Eat This, Not That!, microwaving your green tea can be beneficial for weight loss: "Researchers in one study found microwaving green tea bags in water extracted 20 percent more catechins than simply letting them sit in hot H2O."

 

Green tea is high in catechins, which are related to your metabolism. Healthline explains, "This healthy beverage is loaded with potent antioxidants called catechins. The most important of these is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a substance that can boost metabolism."

Speaking to ABC, Dr Vuong, who works at the University of Newcastle on the New South Wales Central Coast, explains how this works:"Microwaving is one of the advanced technologies to get more bioactive compounds from the products."

To try it out, follow these steps: put hot water in the cup with your teabag, heat in the microwave for 30 seconds on half power, let it sit for a minute.
