Paying With Cash

Although you might be used to paying cash, it's a good idea to switch to a debit or credit card (or, even better, a contactless payment app like Apple Pay).

According to CJ Xia, a healthcare professional and VP of marketing and sales at Boster Biological Technology, paying with cash is a bad idea. He explains, "Paper money is filthy!"

Xia continues, "Paper money keeps revolving in different hands, and depending upon the denomination, notes keep circulating for years. It is contaminated with a lot of harmful germs, viruses, and bacterias, which can lead to serious illness."

With the spread of coronavirus, avoiding paying with cash is important.

Xia explains, "Now, people should be more conscious and pay with their debit or credit cards instead of cash. Online payment will keep the paying process contactless, and the revolving cash (potentially having thousands of microbes) will not infect their hands."

Credit and debit cards can be easily disinfected (unlike paper money), and you typically can pay yourself with a card machine rather than handing it over to the cashier.

With that in mind, next time you go on an errand run make sure to have a card (or contactless payment app) ready. Some stores are even refusing to accept cash now, so it's important to be prepared when you head out--especially because you do not want to have to make two trips if you cannot pay cash.
