When trying to lose weight, it’s important to start your day off to the right track, but actually figuring out how to do that can be tricky. First and foremost, it’s important to listen to your body and to make sure you are nourishing it with healthy foods and strengthening it with regular exercise. However, beyond those two tenets of healthy living, the day-to-day rituals and habits needed to achieve sustainable weight loss can be confusing.

With that in mind, keep reading for the one morning hack you need to try this week for weight loss.

Drinking Green Tea

Having a cup of green tea first thing in the morning is a popular (and effective) way of boosting your metabolism and getting ready for the day ahead. Green tea is packed with caffeine, which can help wake you up and lose fat.

According to Healthline, "Caffeine is a well-known stimulant that has been found to aid fat burning and improve exercise performance in numerous studies."

flat stomach

Green tea is also high in antioxidants called catechins, and contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which has powerful metabolism-boosting properties.

With that in mind, having a cup of green tea in the morning could be an effective way of getting your metabolism ready for the day ahead. By boosting your metabolic rate and helping you burn fat, green tea is an effective addition to any morning ritual--especially for those hoping to slim down.

green tea with lemon

Plus, it's super easy to prepare green tea and to customize if you want a slightly sweeter drink. You can always add some lemon or lemon juice, or even opt for a natural sweetener like honey or stevia.

matcha

Matcha, a type of green tea that has been ground into a powder, is another way you can get your fill. Matcha and matcha lattes are both popular ways of incorporating green tea (and all of its benefits) into your diet.
