A healthy nighttime routine is just one of the many things you can do to shed those extra pounds and get a flat stomach. Weight loss experts recommend staying away from heavy, fattening foods before bed, but they do suggest snuggling up with a cup of tea to help keep your metabolism revved while you sleep.

“Decaffeinated teas are great to have before bed because of their relaxing and soothing effects on the body,” explains New York-based nutritionist Regina Fazzini. “Lack of sleep is one of the most common causes of weight gain. Not getting enough hours have been proven to result in skewed hormone levels, increased appetite, and blood sugar and insulin issues the next day.”

In fact, there’s one tea recipe that Fazzini and other nutritionists recommend to help you lose weight in your sleep. It’s Ginger+ Lime Tea!

Ginger and lime come together to create a fat burning team in this tea recipe. Both of these ingredients reduce fat and eliminate toxins from the body. It's also loaded with anti-inflammatory properties as well, which will help reduce any bloating.

"Ginger aids in indigestion and expands blood vessel size, which increases body heat and allows you to burn more fat,” Fazzini explains. “Limes are also great for digestion, but they’re also loaded in healthy nutrients and minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamins A, B, C, and D. Like other citric acids, limes boost the metabolism and can help you burn more calories and store less fat.”

For this tea, you need to boil a cup of water and add grated ginger to it. Once the water is boiled, let the ginger steep into the water for about 5 minutes. Then, add a teaspoon of lime juice and enjoy!
