Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for COVID-19, after her son Prince Charles, and daughter-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also tested positive for the virus earlier this month.
“Buckingham Palace confirm that The Queen has today tested positive for Covid,” read the official statement from the palace. “Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week. She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.”

According to reports, several members of the 95-year-old monarch's staff at Windsor Castle have also tested positive, although it's not yet known if any of them have more serious symptoms. Although there's no way of confirming, it's believed that Her Majesty – who is said to be triple vaccinated – may have caught the virus from the Prince of Wales, who tested positive on February 10th, two days before being in contact with his mother. His wife announced her positive diagnosis the following week.
Naturally, many people were quick to offer their support to Her Majesty, including several members of parliament. "I’m sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health," UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote on Twitter. London mayor Sadiq Khan also took to Twitter to share his own message of support, and wrote: "The commitment Her Majesty the Queen has shown to our country continues to be unwavering. Wishing her a swift and safe recovery from Covid-19."
