When going to McDonald’s, healthy eating might not be at the forefront of your mind. However, if you do want to pick a more diet-friendly menu item, it’s important to keep the nutrients of whatever you’re eating in mind.
Some people might assume that a chicken sandwich is healthier than a regular burger. But with McDonald’s Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the opposite is true.

Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich
This sandwich is one of the worst things to order on their menu--and that’s saying something.
According to Eat This, Not That!, this chicken sandwich contains 620 calories, 29 grams fat, 1,030 milligram of sodium, and 11 grams of sugar.
Plus, that doesn’t even account for the any side and drink you might order with this chicken sandwich.

To put these stats in context, the Eat This article continues, "This gives it more fat than three slices of Domino's cheese pizza — and somehow more sugar than a glazed Krispy Kreme donut."
Plus, McDonald’s tops this sandwich with a scoop of mayonnaise dressing, which could also mean trouble for your diet.

And at 1,030 milligram of sodium, this sandwich contains over half the amount of sodium that you should be having per day.
According to the CDC, "The 2015–2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that Americans consume less than 2,300 milligrams (mg) of sodium per day as part of a healthy eating pattern."
Too much sodium can lead to an array of health problems, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

With that in mind, if you are picking this menu item with the hope of being healthy, it’s better to choose something else. This chicken sandwich is definitely not diet-friendly, so make sure to keep that in mind next time you’re at the drive-thru.
