Energy drinks may be tempting, especially if you are struggling to stay awake. However, incorporating these drinks into your regular routine can be dangerous for your overall health and can lead to weight gain.

According to Livestrong, "Energy drinks often contain a high number of calories and sugar that can lead to weight gain when added to your diet without cutting calories elsewhere."

The World Health Organization explains, "The calories provided by sugar-sweetened beverages have little nutritional value and may not provide the same feeling of fullness that solid food provides. As a result, total energy intake may increase which can lead to unhealthy weight gain."

Having energy drinks regularly can have serious health consequences as well--increasing your risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.
