Specifically, low-cal cereals might not be as diet friendly as they seem.

Healthline explains this misapprehension, "When trying to lose weight, you might reach for low-calorie cereals to start your day. While these breakfast foods may be low in calories, they are often loaded with added sugars."

Additionally, many low-calorie cereals also lack essential nutrients that can be part of a balanced meal and that can also help you feel fuller throughout the day--nutrients like protein and healthy fats.

With that in mind, instead of opting for a low-calorie cereal, try an egg dish, avocado toast, or a protein shake. These more balanced options could be more beneficial to your diet.
