Tom Brady shared a cryptic quote about enduring the “betrayal of false friends” on social media just a few hours after ex-wife Gisele Bündchen’s brand new interview with Vanity Fair, where she addressed their divorce for the first time, had dropped. And the internet is pretty much convinced that the quote is directly related!

Tom Brady Shares Cryptic Quote On Instagram Following Gisele Bündchen's 'Vanity Fair' Interview

On Wednesday, March 22nd, the 45-year-old former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback shared a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson on his Instagram Story, shortly after the 42-year-old supermodel's Vanity Fair cover and accompanying interview had dropped.

The quote read: "What is success? To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate the beauty; To find the best in others; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!"

Twitter Reactions To Tom Brady's Quote

Social media was rife with comments following the football player's Instagram Story. While it's unclear if he was referring to anyone in particular with the "false friends" portion of the quote, some people are wondering if it's jiu jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente who Gisele has been spotted on several vacations in Costa Rica with, as he and Gisele had been working together while she and Tom were still married.

"That's got to be the jiu jitsu guy he's referring to," one Twitter user commented. "By going to Costa Rica with the jiu-jitsu instructor so soon after their split makes you think," added another. Others think it could be in reference to Tom's friend, 55-year-old billionaire Jeffrey Soffer, who Gisele was very recently linked to, although she quickly shut those rumors down, telling Vanity Fair: "I have zero relationship with him in any way." She added that he's "Tom’s friend, not my friend," and also said, "I wouldn’t be with this guy. I mean, puh-leeze." Ok then!

"There is always a fake friend in somebody’s circle!" exclaimed one person on Twitter, adding, "My mom always tell me 'If you get you one good friend in a lifetime, you’re lucky.'" Other fans suggested that neither Tom nor Gisele should be talking about (or hinting about!) their divorce, with one saying: "These two need to stop being petty for the kids if not for nothing else. These back and forth shots are childish."

Gisele Bündchen Breaks Silence On Divorce In The 'Vanity Fair April Issue

Once fans had gotten over the Brazilian supermodel's breathtaking April 2023 Vanity Fair cover, where she posed in a jaw-dropping backless pink bodysuit and very little else, they sat down to read her candid accompanying interview, where she broke her silence about divorcing her husband after 13 years of marriage. Gisele and Tom finalized their divorce in October 2022, but this is the first time the former Victoria's Secret Angel has spoken out about it. And she didn’t seem to hold back, so the interview was definitely worth the wait!

The model heartbreakingly called the divorce "the death of my dream," telling the mag: "It's tough because you imagine your life was going to be a certain way, and you did everything you could, you know? I believed in fairytales when I was a kid. I think it's beautiful to believe in that. I mean, I'm so grateful I did. You give everything you got to achieve your dream. You give a hundred percent of yourself, and it's heartbreaking when it doesn't end up the way you hoped for, and worked for, but you can only do your part."

Gisele also touched on rumors that she and Tom divorced due to constant disagreements about the Super Bowl champ's retirement, as she was rumored to have asked him to choose between his family or his career on several occasions, but she told the mag, "What's been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle," adding, "It's not so black and white." She continued to say that they essentially "wanted different things" in their lives, which have changed since they were in their twenties. "Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart," she said. "When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together."

But in terms of where Gisele stands on Brady and his football career, she has made it clear that she will support him no matter what. "Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever. If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me," she said. "I want him to achieve and to conquer. I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart."
