The Mission: Impossible alum was filming his latest movie in London at the time, according to reports. Having just reached the age of 18, Suri is now legally recognized as an adult and empowered to make decisions independently.
Although insiders report that Suri is still considering various options for her future career path, they affirm that she is resolute in one aspect: Tom holds no place in her life. "Tom does not exist to her," a tipster told the publication.
Upon Suri's 18th birthday, any legal obligations for Tom to provide financial support to ex Katie, 45, were terminated, signifying the end of their parental ties on paper. It has been reported that the sum the Eyes Wide Shut actor had to provide each year amounted to a substantial $400,000.
Despite the possibility of receiving financial aid in the future, sources claim that Suri has no intention of reconciling with her father. "Suri will not have any contact with her father, despite being 18, and even if he called, she would not answer," one insider told The Daily Mail.
They continued: "He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything. She feels that she has one parent and that is her mother." Suri seems to have a strong bond with her mother, as the two are often spotted together by paparazzi.
The Dawson's Creek actress and her daughter, who bears a striking resemblance to her, are often photographed together in the Big Apple. Sources also told the mag that she has no intention of pursuing a career in front of the camera like her famous mom.
Insiders revealed that Suri is determined to maintain a low profile, aspiring to be a "private citizen" - as private as possible, considering her well-known parentage. "She's currently weighing up her options for the future," an insider said, adding: "But she plans on remaining a private citizen."
Tom and Katie were married in Italy in 2006 in a Scientology ceremony, but the Batman Begins star's relationship with the church deteriorated as time passed. In 2012, after five and a half years of marriage, Katie filed for divorce from Tom in New York. Sources close to her claimed that she was worried about Tom abducting their daughter Suri and was also afraid of intimidation from the Church of Scientology.
The Edge of Tomorrow actor was away filming in Iceland at the time of the divorce announcement. The divorce settlement was finalized in July 2012, marking Holmes' first divorce and Cruise's third.
