What Is The New Trader Joe’s Gingerbread Ice Cream?

For $3.49 per pint, Trader Joe’s fans can pick up a carton of its Gingerbread Ice Cream, which the TJ’s site indicates starts with a “sweet and generously ginger-spiced ice cream base, then adds bite-sized bits of  Triple Ginger Snap Cookies (the same ones you’ll find in their cookie aisle, year-round), before finishing with a splendid gingerbread swirl.”

Whether you want to eat the ice cream on its own, add it to a milkshake or make a holiday float with it, there’s no denying that gingerbread-flavored ice cream is tempting this time of year (and its taste evokes major nostalgia).

In addition, the company revealed that it aimed to combine “warm flavors and feelings” associated with gingerbread with its “cool and creamy” ice cream, such as the “rich sweetness of the molasses,” the “inviting aromas of the ginger, nutmeg, and cloves, or even just the “faint touch of ginger-y heat in every bite.”

While some indicated that they “wished for a dairy-free version” of the treat, more seemed to praise the ice cream after trying it, or expressed that they wanted to give it a try.

“My 11 year old and I started jumping up and down in excitement. We are GIANT gingerbread and ice cream lovers here! I hope our stores have it!!!!” one user wrote, as another chimed in, “I’m in love with it and it’s breaking my heart because I know I have limited time.” Someone else commented, “Eating a bowl now and it is fire” as another commenter added, “Ate in one sitting.” One other Trader Joe’s shopper revealed that they “tried this a few weeks ago and it’s sooooo good,” and they were “sad the next time I went and it was sold out.”
