Turmeric is more than just a tasty, earthy spice—it’s also a well-known natural remedy that can help fight inflammation and keep your health in great shape thanks to its active compound, curcumin. And as it turns out, you may see promising results in as little as two weeks.
“Within just 2 weeks, some people may see improvements in symptoms like digestive discomfort and joint stiffness,” explains Dr. Buckle, N.D., a licensed naturopathic doctor. “That’s because these are linked to inflammation, and curcumin helps reduce inflammation in the body.” Learn more about how this supplement can be a game-changer below.
Benefits of Turmeric
Bloating, indigestion, and general digestive discomfort are often caused by inflammation in the digestive tract. But when you consume turmeric consistently, Dr. Buckle says you may benefit from reduced bloating and smoother digestion. However, he notes, the response is highly individual, and while many notice changes at a fast rate, it can depend on factors like age, diet, and overall health.
Joint stiffness is another inflammation-driven issue that turmeric may help keep at bay. "Some people report feeling less stiffness in their joints within two weeks," Dr. Buckle says.
It’s important to note that not all turmeric supplements are created equal. "Curcumin is not well absorbed, so look for supplements that also contain liposomal or black pepper extract," Dr. Buckle advises. Both can significantly lead to better absorption, allowing you to reap the most benefits.

"Look for doses of at least 500 mg of curcumin," he adds. "Doses lower than that a day may not yield much benefit." Noted!
But how long does it take to experience these benefits? "Most people see benefits within 2 weeks, but giving it more time will yield better results," Dr. Buckle explains.
He also offers a word of caution: "Look out for interactions. Talk to your doctor and be aware that turmeric can interfere with antiplatelets." If you take blood-thinning medication or have a health condition that requires caution, check with your healthcare provider before adding turmeric to your daily routine.
