If you’re trying to start the year off right, the best thing you can do for your body, routine and overall health is to make sure you eat a nutritious breakfast every single day. One of our favorite ways to do this is with eggs, because they are simple to make and chock full of all the things you need to start your day with energy and a full stomach: protein, B vitamins, iron, zinc and vitamin D. Not to mention that there are hundreds of different ways to prepare eggs and that they are rather inexpensive.

Whether you prefer an omelette, scrambled eggs, or fried eggs, this breakfast choice is one of the best you can make. However, there is one ingredient that many people are adding to their eggs that is actually destroying your metabolism slowly over time.

Many people choose to add heavy cream to their eggs because it can make eggs more fluffy when you are done cooking them. But the truth is that this is a bad ingredient to start your day with because it is high in saturated fat, which can lower your cholesterol levels.

Heavy cream is a common additive to foods like sauces because it can thicken up the consistency of recipes, but it is a poor choice for a breakfast food because eating higher levels of fat in the morning can deplete your energy and slow down your metabolism.

If you prefer fluffier eggs, try adding skim milk instead of heavy cream. This can also improve the consistency of your eggs without using as much fat, plus it is less likely to dry out the eggs while you cook.
