Sometimes, it can seem nearly impossible to enjoy an indulgent, filling breakfast while losing weight. However, it certainly is possible.

When people think of weight-loss-friendly breakfasts, they often picture plain Greek yogurt and fruit, oatmeal, or some kind of boring protein bar. However, you can still enjoy the classic elements of a filling, savory diner breakfast and stay on track with your health journey. Nutrition specialist and viral TikTok content creator, MaKayla Thomas, shared her recipe for loaded breakfast casserole bowls, which she claims are perfect for “lazy girls” who want to shed a few pounds. Read more about how she makes them below.

MaKayla Creates The Base For Her Casserole Bowls

To create her breakfast casseroles, MaKayla sets herself up for some easy meal prep and lays out three Tupperware containers. Then, she fills the bottom with one cup of plain, shredded hashbrowns, which she says are "so low-calorie" and make for a great weight loss food, despite what anyone may try to tell you about potatoes. Then, she follows the hash browns with 1/2 cup of store-bought egg whites.

Once her potatoes and eggs are in the bowl, she takes one triangle of the Laughing Cow spreadable cheese and places it on top of each bowl.

MaKayla Tops Her Bowls With Delicious 'Breakfast Fillings'

Although she has a delicious base consisting of potatoes, eggs, and cheese, the fun doesn't stop there, as she encourages her viewers to add the "breakfast fillings" of their choice. Next, MaKayla takes a small sausage patty and crumbles one into each bowl, followed by some crumbled up bacon, remembering to use small portions. Finally, she mixes everything together before prepping the bowls for cooking.

Once her ingredients are all mixed up, MaKayla tops each bowl with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese before putting them in the microwave to cook and warm up for three minutes. Between the second and third minute, she takes each bowl out and stirs it a bit.

The nutrition specialist's breakfast bowls make for a great meal for starting out your day, as each portion contains 275 calories and a whopping 27 grams of protein. Would you give them a try?
