Aldi is an underrated grocery store when it comes to shopping for healthy food, as there are more nutritious options than you may think at great prices.
If you’re trying to lose some weight as we enter the summertime, one of the best places to start is with your grocery list. It’s crucial to find some items that are high in protein and some that are low in calories. Trying to shop healthy when there are so many temptations lurking in the aisles of grocery stores can be overwhelming, but luckily, there are some great sources out there that will help you figure out precisely what to find.
A TikTok content creator and weight loss coach, Samantha Milton, makes all sorts of videos about her 250-lb weight loss and how she achieved it through healthy recipes and grocery hauls that she shares with her viewers. In one of her viral videos, she showed her followers her “low calorie, high protein” haul of healthy Aldi finds that help her stay on track with maintaining her weight loss. Check out some of the items she bought at the discount grocery store below.
Zero Sugar Black Pepper Beef Jerky
Now that the summer is here, many people will be traveling via road trips or on airplanes, and one of the most common snacks for the road is beef jerky. It's a quick and easy source of protein and makes for a very filling snack. However, some beef jerky brands add ingredients that aren't as great for losing weight, like excess amounts of sugar and more.
While shopping at Aldi, Samantha found a brand of beef jerky that is different from the rest, as it contains no added sugar, and one serving of it contains "70 calories [and] 14 grams of protein." So, if you love diving into a bag of beef jerky as a tasty snack, head to Aldi for this peppery jerky instead of your nearest gas station.

Chobani Greek Yogurt Cups
Yogurt is terrific for weight loss, as it's high in protein and goes with so many different added nutritious ingredients like berries and nuts. You can eat it just about any time of day, as a filling breakfast, snack, or dessert.
Aldi sells cups of Chobani yogurt that are high in protein and will keep you fuller for longer. While filming her video, Samantha grabbed two cups of the popular yogurt in holiday-themed flavors, Spiced Holiday Nog and Peppermint Chocolate.
Each cup of the holiday-themed yogurt Samantha picked up contained 130 calories and 11 grams of protein. If you don't want to eat yogurt plain, add some fruit and homemade granola, or use it on top of other tasty treats like waffles and pancakes if you want to up your protein.

Pork Carnitas
Just because you're on a weight loss journey does not mean you have to skip fun meals like taco night. Aldi sells its own brand version of pork carnitas, which are pieces of seasoned pork that have been slow-cooked in all sorts of tasty spices and ingredients.
When paired with nutritious elements like low-carb taco shells and fiber-filled vegetables like chopped lettuce and onion, you can use the pork carnitas, which has 120 calories and 15 grams of protein per serving, for an at-home taco night that shouldn't have you missing your massive takeout meals.

Korean BBQ Style Beef Udon
One of the things that people miss a lot when they're trying to eat healthy is carbs, particularly noodles. This is because there are some more old-school beliefs that the only way to lose weight is to cut out foods like noodles, which is not true. You can eat foods like Aldi's delicious beef udon kit, which has only 310 calories per serving.
The kit comes with thick and tasty udon noodles, Korean BBQ beef sauce, and a green onion topping, making it perfect for those nights when you need to throw something together for dinner quickly. This is probably why Samantha, who is a mom of three, threw two bags into her cart.

Spinach & Artichoke Tzatziki Dip with Greek Yogurt
Looking for a fun and filling snack while trying to watch your weight? This tzatziki dip from Aldi provides the satisfying, creamy, and savory flavors of spinach and artichoke dip with added protein from Greek yogurt.
"[It has] only 45 calories," says Samantha in her video, referring to a serving of the dip.
You can pile in cut-up veggies like bell peppers and cucumbers while enjoying the dip, or even spread it on a whole wheat wrap and add sandwich fillings to make an extra tasty and filling lunch. This spread is just an example of how you don't have to sacrifice snacking while working hard to shed some pounds.

Chipotle Chicken Sausages
Chicken sausage is all the rage in the health and wellness community right now, as you can get in your fix of savory sausage with a leaner source of protein, unlike pork or beef-based sausages. Plus, because chicken is so versatile, it can have numerous flavor profiles.
At Aldi, Samantha found a package of Chipotle and Monterey Jack cheese-flavored chicken sausages, which had 160 calories and 14 grams of protein per serving. You can use these in a salad or pasta dish, eat them for breakfast, or even replace a hotdog or bratwurst with them. Yum!

Mini Mint Ice Cream Sandwiches
Do you ever need just a little sweet treat to get you through the day? Can't go to bed without a taste of ice cream? In that case, you should check out the Mini's mint-flavored ice cream cookie sandwiches from Aldi. At only 60 calories each, the decadent ice cream sandwiches can ensure you're still able to get in a sweet yet refreshing reward at the end of the day or as a mid-day snack without the guilt.
