Will Smith has been hitting the headlines a lot over the past few months. From promoting his latest movie, King Richard, memoir, Will, and YouTube docuseries, Will Smith: The Best Shape of My Life, to the constant media attention surrounding his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith, we can’t seem to go five minutes without reading his name! However, there’s another topic that the internet can’t stop talking about now, and that’s the 53-year-old actor’s VERY different appearance!
Fans had to do a triple take when they saw the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star appear on British TV show, The One Show on November 17th, as the actor looked completely unrecognizable! One concerned Twitter user wrote: “Will Smith looks different. And I’m not sure why/how..” “What is going on with Will Smith on The One Show, he looks odd,” commented another. Posting alongside a before and after picture of the Hancock actor, someone else asked: “Did they just SWAP OUT WILL SMITH with a poor BODY-DOUBLE???”

“Will smith looks like a Pixar version of himself. Wtf. Had to get the program info up on the one show to make sure it was actually him,” another viewer wrote on Twitter. Another fan said what everyone else was thinking, which was: “theoneshow will smith doesn’t look like will smith,” while another very bluntly questioned, “What has Will Smith done to his face?”
We also feel like we need answers too! Some fans believed that the I, Robot actor’s facial hair may have had something to do with his appearance, with one fan writing, “Probably the weird beard. Usually it extends up to a moustache,” although most other fans and publications believed that the answer had to be plastic surgery and/or injectables. “Looks like he has had an eye & brow lift,” one fan suggested, while another put it down to getting older, writing, ” I mean he’s older now. His hair is thinning…. Hairline back further. It’s just what happens to us men. He’s still fresh tho.”
Interestingly, a few plastic surgeons have weighed in. "Will definitely looks a lot smoother," Dr. Michael K. Obeng told Radar Online, who added that Smith's "skin texture is better," which can be achieved "with a series of micro-needling" and "CO 2 laser," as well as "fat transfer to the face." Goodness!
Dr. Obaid Chaudhry, MD also told Radar Online that Smith may have had "fillers or fat transfer" as he appears to have a "much fuller face" these days, as it's common for a person's face to get thinner as they get older. "As we age we lose fat in our face making us look gaunt even frail," Chaudhry explained. "Replacing the lost fat with the patient's own fat will give a more youthful look."
