You've had a long weekend of, shall we say, treaking yourself. Sunday morning you head out to brunch with your gals and want to hit the reset button on your over-indulgent past few days. So what foods should you avoid come brunch time for losing weight and getting your health regiment back on track for the upcoming week?

Belgian Waffles

We love a good waffle just as much as the next person, but this might be one of the worst brunch staples for weight loss. Rania Batayneh, MPH, told Shape that Belgian waffles have extra butter in the recipe, making them even more calorie-dense than pancakes. But wait until we get to toppings. A boatload of syrup, butter, and other add-ons lead to way more calories than you need. For a healthier alternative, order whole wheat waffles without all the sugary toppings.

French Toast

This one should be a given. Naturally, something that tastes and looks so good and dessert-like unfortunately has few health benefits and LOTS of calories. Most restaurants slather on whipped cream, another big weight loss no-no. As good as it tastes, you might want to put this meal on the backburner if you're trying to maintain your weight loss goals.

Eggs Benedict

A favorite brunch meal, eggs Benedict should be sworn off by anyone trying to lose weight. Eggs are about the only redeeming quality of this breakfast combo. Ditch the high-calorie English muffin and opt for scrambled or sunny side up eggs.

Home Fries

Anything with the word "fries" in it should deter you. As delicious as breakfast potatoes taste, this side adds more calories to your meal. Replace these with a side of fresh fruit. It's a lot less appealing, but you'll thank yourself later.
