Experts Agree: This Is The One Dessert You Should Stop Buying At Costco (You Won’t Believe How Bad It Is For You!)

Weekends might mean enjoying a delicious cookie (you’ve earned it after a long week, right?), but you might want to think again. Especially for pre-diabetics and anyone who needs to watch their sugar intake, health experts warn that this is the one food you should *never* buy on your Costco grocery run. We already know that Kirkland Granola Bars are off the shopping list because of their insane sugar content–and now we can eliminate their cookies, too.

You might think what harm can one cookie do? But Kirkland Costco Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie contain a whopping 16g of sugar and 11 g of fat. Yikes! You may have been warned about not eating raw cookie dough all your life, but these gigantic Costco-sized cookies were the real concern. Here’s what nutritionists, trainers and doctors have to say about this dangerous high-sugar, high-fat nutrition combination:

Costco Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie

Costco cookies may be delicious, but they have one of the highest sugar contents of all the sweet offerings in the store, licensed personal trainer Nathan Lloyd of Expert Fitness tells us.

"The calorie and sugar count can be threatening if you have had diabetes or are not allowed to eat too much sugary," he warns.

So, what should you eat instead? "Homemade cookies are much healthier and contain sugar according to your liking!" Lloyd suggests.

"Each cookie is huge and high in calories, fat, and sugar," nutritionist Lisa Young, PhD, RDN and author of "Finally Full, Finally Slim," agrees.

"My suggestion: share one cookie with 3 people," she advises. Noted!

"Back in the day, a giant cookie from Costco was a treat. But truly, these cookies are made to be big and monstrous looking for the visual appeal but packed with sugar and fat," weight control, obesity and nutrition expert Dr. Amy Lee of Nucific asserts.

"And the dangerous part is, most people assume that one cookie is a portion but that’s Costco’s portion. In reality, one Costco cookie is equivalent to 3 normal portions," she warns. Yikes!
