Weight gain can often be linked to certain foods that disrupt metabolism, spike blood sugar, and lead to excess fat storage. While some foods may seem harmless or even healthy, they could actually be contributing to unwanted weight gain. To maintain a balanced diet and a healthy weight, it’s essential to not only recognize which foods to avoid but also work on fighting those cravings.
@robertwblove AVOID These Three Foods Because They Are Causing Weight Gain. Food Number Three is Controversial. #Food #WeightLoss #FatLoss #Inflammation #Brain #Alzheimers #Dementia #Soda @Lasting Weight Loss #robertlove #robertwlove original sound – Robert Love
Robert Love, a neuroscientist, and Dr. Dean Jones, a leading expert in sustainable weight loss, shared three of the worst foods that can “cause weight gain.” Unfortunately, some of your favorite foods—like fried foods, soda, and fruit juice—are on this list. Keep reading to learn more.
1. Fried Foods
Foods like French fries, fried chicken, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks are some of the biggest culprits behind weight gain. The unhealthy oils they are cooked in can slow metabolism and promote fat storage. Also, they’re calorie-dense but offer very little nutritional value.
"The majority of fried foods that you're getting, even from restaurants that try to claim to be healthier, are not using high-quality oils that can tolerate higher heats. They're generally using processed seed oils and using them over and over because of their ability to be used over and over for convenience and cost-wise," Jones says. He adds that they're "very high in trans fats. There's just no room in our diet for trans fats. You almost never see it in nature. We want to stay away from that because it's very inflammatory and very destructive not just to your weight loss goals, but also to your overall health and your brain."
Love adds that inflammation is one of the primary risk factors of Alzheimer's disease, so it's a good idea to steer clear of inflammatory ingredients altogether.

2. Soda
Cola, lemon-lime soda, fruit-flavored soft drinks, and energy drinks are packed with high fructose corn syrup and added sugars, making them a major contributor to weight gain.
“When it comes to beverages that are high in sugar, high in carbohydrates, and high in calories, it's not so much that the total calories in a can of soda are astronomically high; it's the fact that you get no fullness," Jones states. He notes that sodas offer very little satiety and have no fiber, so “your body stores those calories as fat.” This is also “dangerous” for your cognitive health!

3. Fruit Juice
Unlike whole fruits, which contain fiber to slow down sugar absorption and keep you full, fruit juices are stripped of fiber, causing rapid spikes in blood sugar and insulin levels.
Dr. Jones says this one may be “controversial” because fruit juice is usually marketed to be a healthy beverage. “I want to be clear, there is a right way that you can juice, but the problem is nobody understands that when they’re juicing, they want to make it taste better, so they’re throwing in apples, oranges, and high-calorie, high-fructose-loaded fruits.”
This will eventually lead to weight gain due to the high sugar content. This is why Dr. Jones recommends eating the whole fruit. “There’s actually a cool thing called reverse juicing, where you actually throw out the juice and eat the pulp, the fiber, the polyphenols; that’s all great.” So while fruit juice may seem healthy, the added sugars and added fructose “are just a demise to their weight loss efforts.”
