It’s no secret that you need to pay attention to the foods you eat – especially when you’re trying to lose weight. We all know that the healthy foods can work wonders in burning fat, boosting metabolism and promoting weight gain, and unfortunately most of our favorite foods can contribute to weight gain. But no matter what your healthy eating plan looks like, there’s always room for a little indulgence in your favorite guilty pleasure foods here and there. That being said, we discovered four foods that most people think are safe to use as a cheat, but in reality they are the worst possible options you can eat.
Potato Chips
Many people think that potato chips are less harmful than other savory snacks because the only noticeable ingredients in them are potatoes (which are vegetables) and salt. But unfortunately chips are terrible for you, plain and simple. They are high in calories, plus they can easily raise your daily sodium intake because it’s hard to stop eating them.
Fruit Juice
We all know that soft drinks can be a problem because they are loaded with artificial sodas, but most people don’t usually realize that this extends to fruit juices - not just sodas. That’s right, even if a juice is made with real fruit it is incredibly unhealthy, thanks to added sugars that contribute to belly fat.
White Bread
Not all carbs are bad for you, but you have to be sure you are getting the best possible options when it comes to grains. And white bread is definitely not that. This type of bread is made with highly refined wheat and added sugars, meaning it can raise your glycemic index and eventually cause weight gain.
Pizza
It should come as no surprise that pizza is bad for you. High in carbs, fat and sodium, pizza is most often made with the worst possible ingredients, so unless you are cooking your own pizza on a healthy crust, its best to leave this one out of your diet.
