Stay hydrated

According to Erum Ilyas, board certified dermatologist at Montgomery Dermatology, recommends hydration for younger-looking skin. She explained, "Focusing on hydration can dramatically improve the overall appearance of the skin and give it a more youthful glow. Ingredients that can achieve this would include hyaluronic acid and niacinamide serum."

If you do have acne-prone skin, pairing these moisturizing ingredients with a retinol is a good idea. Ilyas says, "Adding in a retinol in the evening can reduce the likelihood of these ingredients causing acne as well as boost anti-aging."

Use a humidifier

Jill Canes, NP and founder of Face Forward Medical Aesthetics, suggests using a humidifier as a method for anti-aging.

"A humidifier can keep your skin hydrated, especially if you have dry skin," she explains. "The skin gradually loses the ability to lock in moisture with age which can lead to signs of aging."

Apply sunscreen

Canes also recommends protecting your skin from the sun to keep it looking youthful, especially considering.

She tells SheFinds, "Apply sunscreen and moisturizer daily, and don't forget your eyes. The skin around your eyes are very thin so any UV damage from the sun will present here first with a darker color through the skin. Look for products with retinol or antioxidants which can protect the skin from photoaging."

Pick out a few treatments

James Beckman, MD, board certified plastic surgeon and adjunct, associate clinical professor of dermatology at Arkansas Medical School, recommends establishing a healthy skincare routine that you will be able to stick to. Besides the essentials (cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen), Beckman also recommends adding a few treatments into your skincare regime.

He explains, "Lactic acid peels and dermaplaning are great ways to keep skin lightly hydrated and glowing. There is little to no downtime to slow down your pace but the results are beautiful!"
