Zendaya has built herself a reputation as one of the top celebrities people look forward to seeing at the infamous Met Gala, but this year, her look had some mixed reactions.
The actress wore a white tailored suit, and while she received praise for adhering to the gala’s theme, some of her fans and fashion enthusiasts were “disappointed” by the simple look. Additionally, another actress was photographed wearing a very similar suit on the red carpet, taking away from the Euphoria star’s individuality. Read more about her look for this year’s massive event below.
Zendaya Matches Another Actress In A White 3-Piece Louis Vuitton Suit At The 2025 Met Gala
The theme for this year's Met Gala was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," which, according to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's website, "explores the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe."
Zendaya has been attending the legendary fashion event since 2015. Since then, she has been one of the attendees whose outfits everyone anticipates, as she's well known for not only following each year's theme but also for always managing to look fabulous and make headlines.
This year, the 28-year-old turned heads in her custom three-piece white suit, which was one of Pharrell William's Louis Vuitton designs. She paired the all-white look with a large hat and, following the gala's theme, wore a suit perfectly tailored to her slender, tall figure. The suit included a tie and button-down vest, which peeked out from under her blazer. The long, white flare trousers barely covered her white pumps, making her pose even more elegant.
However, another celebrity wore a look that looked super similar to the Emmy winner, taking some of her spotlight away. Anna Sawai, the award-winning Japanese actress who stars in the series Shōgun, wore a white custom Dior suit and large, floppy hat, creating a look that other media outlets say was "identical" to Zendaya's. Talk about a coincidence!
Sawai's stylist later addressed the twinning outfits on her Instagram story, tagging the Dune actress's stylist, Law Roach, and writing a truce-esque message, "Great minds," with a heart emoji.
The accidental matching outfits weren't the only thing that caused a stir post-Met Gala, as the former Disney star's look received mixed reactions online.

Fans Say They're 'Disappointed' By Zendaya's White Suit On Social Media
While she received some snaps for adhering to this year's gala theme, some fans of the Spider-Man star weren't as impressed with her outfit choice as they have been in the past, citing that it looked too simple and a bit anti-climactic on social media.
"Zendaya played it too safe this time," wrote an Instagram user. "I'm kinda disappointed."
Other fans and internet users were upset that the red carpet icon wasn't more adventurous or daring with her look for this year's event.
"It was about the most basic and safe option anyone could've gone with tonight," commented an Instagram user.
"This was kinda simple; I expected better," added another.
We'll be curious to see if the Golden Globe-winning actress chooses to acknowledge the matching suit mishap or the backlash from fans and fashion enthusiasts. Still, either way, everything that went down has kept her in the headlines post-gala.
