Does anyone really follow their mom’s rule about not wearing white after Labor Day? I know I don’t. I dress for the weather, and am all about finding ways to bring my favorite summer whites into the fall.
But there are ways to pull it off better than others. Accenting your outfit with pieces such as a crisp white scarf ($24.50) or sharp bag ($675) will instantly brighten up your ensemble with looking out of season.
Have an all white dress, like my favorite casual MINT shirt dress ($420)? That’s a little harder and often depends on the fabric— linen will look summery while a cotton shift layered with a dark colored cardigan and tights will make the next season. The same applies to white pants — a denim is easiest, especially paired with a grey wrap or long-sleeved shirt and a dark belt.
