A disturbing trend is afoot, says MSNBC: trailer trash style. Also called the “white trash” look, a name I detest for its racist undertones, it was made popular in part by Nicole Ritchie (I know, I know, she’s not even White. But let’s ignore this minor detail). Instead, we can blame Ritchie’s former BFF, Paris Hilton, and the reigning king and queen of the heap: the Britster and hubby Kevin. How can you too sport trailer trash chic? Just don a wife beater and a ball cap by Von Dutch, which in itself is all the rage. Still. Really?
While there are (occasion specific) finds to be had at Fredericks of Hollywood, there’s also an abundance of vulgar chic fashion. Sky-high stilletos with a knit mini dress is two parts Paris, one part prostitute, and perfectly on-trend trashy. Joy (Jamie Pressly), the doublewide dwelling diva on My Name is Earl, is your go-to trashionista. If you find yourself a tad miffed at the nature of this article, feel free to email someone else. I don’t create the trends, I just report them.
