While there are definitely lots of meetings and events for which I need to look presentable (or fashion-industry presentable, which is different and harder), the SheFinds offices are casual, and my home-office is even more casual.
My litmus test for attire on the days I work from home is: If I go grab coffee, could I bump into an acquaintance in this outfit and not be mortified? Because anything less put-together than that doesn’t feel like work. That said, what’s the fun of working from home if you can’t dress waay down?
These conflicting notions usually lead me to a comfortable (which is practically synonymous with empire waist) dress like this ridiculously cheap number from Forever 21 ($11.50), paired with a relaxed cardigan ($62) and Havaianas ($15), still the cushiest flip-flops I’ve ever owned. Sometimes I even put on a necklace because, you know, that obviously means I’m actually at work.
And be sure to check out our What to Wear to Work Guide for more pointers on how to get dressed for any office.
