With New York’s Fashion Week behind us, the talk has moved on to Europe’s catwalks. And the talk in London is all about Julien Macdonald’s show. The former designer for Givenchy, Karl Lagerfeld and Alexander McQueen featured crystals, jewels and no shortage of fur. There were V- and scoop-necked vests, high-waisted knickers, a memorable houndstooth print cape and Macdonald’s trademark glitzy knits. The silhouettes are gorgeous, with the volume seen in the New York shows, and even appear to be wearable. I love the jackets and cardigans, and the punches of color between lots of white are exciting. Macdonald’s scaled-down retail line is Star by Julien Macdonald, but you’ll have to go to Debenhams in London to buy it (or have it shipped to a friend in the UK).
