A Find: Christophe Beverly Hills Hydrating Curl Balm

Christophe Beverly Hills Hydrating Curl Balm The first thing that caught Shefinds attention when we opened the bottle of Christophe Beverly Hills Hydrating Curl Balm was its smell. The scent was so pleasing that we found ourselves fighting the urge to ask friends, co-workers, even total strangers to take a whiff of our hair. In fact, it was such a good smell that we weren’t completely sure the Hydrating Curl Balm could live up to its claims of superior curl management – what if it just smelled great? We were then thoroughly pleased when, after extensive self-testing we learned that not only does Christophe Beverly Hills Hydrating Curl Balm gently define and contour our curls; it does so without any of the traditional “crunch” that often accompanies curl defining products. And, not only was our hair soft to the touch, and our ringlets well formed, but it definitely added some luster to our normally less-than-shiny locks. Consider us 100% hooked.

I have extra curly hair that tends to be frizzy, dry and untamed. After using this hydrating curl balm, my curls are tamed, soft, and frizz-free. Hats are no longer my best friend!

  • kimberly

I am so addicted to this! I have always used mouse, but ever since i tried this i cannot go back. everyone, and i mean everyone, sniffs my hair! i get compliments on how good my hair smells from anyone who gets close enough to smell it…

  • Myszka

This stuff is great! Makes my frizzy, unruly hair soft, manageable and pretty. I used to hate my curls because they misbehaved so, but this hair balm gets my curls to behave – like a British nanny!

  • Melissa

I’m with Irma, I can’t find it anywhere! It is the best product I’ve ever used and I need it!!

  • Maria

I, too, love it. I contacted CVS and was told it has been discontinued. I have not found anywhere else to buy it, and I think it was actually a CVS brand. Sorry, girls!

  • marrina

I also LOVE it and have been to every CVS around. It is discontinued, and I am now trying to see if I can purchase it online, but havent had any luck!!! Please help

  • Robert

I’m a dude and I love it. It eliminates the french-fry effect and makes my hair smell wonderful. I miss my Christophe…

  • Julie Christiansen

READ THIS!!! I work for the Cristophe Brand and we have just launched a new product called CURL DEFINING CONTOUR CREME that is even better than hydrating curl balm. The formula leaves your curls defined and soft, not crunchy. Also check out the Curl Defining shampoo and conditioner. CVS store resets are underway right now so these “lime green” colored products should in your local CVS stores now!

  • Melissa

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so much! I cannot wait! I have tried every price point for styling products for my curly hair, and Christophe knows hair! Will there be a spray too? Gotta have both!

  • Cal

I have been hooked on the Cristophe curl balm and am extremely disappointed about not being able to find it anywhere. I tried the new curl defining creme and it is nothing like the curl balm. It does NOT reduce the frizz at all!!! What can we do to get CVS to continue to carry the curl balm since they are the exclusive carrier of Cristophe products?

  • Sue Halpin

The product is Great! Does anyone up North know of a location to buy this? Down here in Florida CVS stopped selling this particular “product” of Christophe.

  • Bev

I also tried the curl balm and LOVE the stuff. Like everyone else I can’t find it anymore. I did buy the curl defining but it does not work as good as the balm. I have tried a lot of products to manage my curly hair and have found that the curl balm worked the best to control frizz and manage my curl. Cvs needs to bring it back.

  • Kristina

I came online to see if I too could buy the purple curling balm on line, and after reading all the posts I am soooooooo dispapopinted to learn that CVS no longer carries it! I thought I was just having bad luck. Does anyone know why they replaced it with the green stuff and whether CVS plans to carry it again? Is it possible to purchase directly from Christophe? I too have tried probably 80 different curling prodcuts in my life and NOTHING works as good as the purple stuff!

  • Irma

I love Cristophe hydrating curl balm. I bought it once and I can’t find it anymore. CVS no longer carries it. Does anyone know where I can buy it on the web or at a store?

  • Danielle Stephenson

I absolutely AGREE…I can’t find the Hydrating Curl Balm in Atlanta…CVS used to carry it…I have been looking everywhere….I really am desperate….I can’t go back….Do you know how I can get MORE….

  • Richelle

Okay all… Anyone find a supply of the Hydrating Curl Balm? I have tried the new stuff and it is just AWEFUL! Need bigtime since the humidity has officially arrived back in So Flo. Please e-mail if you find PLEASE!

  • eileen ginex

Trying to find hair balm. Help

  • Rebecca

I also love this product! But, I love the Christophe Hydrating Curl Spray even more! It is the only thing that has ever worked on my hair. Now I can’t find it anywhere. HELP!

  • Sandra

I am so glad to see that I am not the only person who is in a desperate search for Cristophe Curl Balm. Living in the humid south I found the curl balm to be the very best product I have ever used and I am about out and desperate to find some more. Someone please forward this or tell us how to harass CVS or Cristophe enough to make them carry it again. It took me years to finally find something that works on my hair and now I can’t find it.

  • Rosa

Good for you, Debbie! I am having no luck here in Ohio and I have everyone from AZ, GA to TN looking for me. I have even taken the step of calling one of Christophe’s salons. I have e-mailed a salon manager but haven’t heard anything back yet. I’ll keep you posted. The curl balm was definitely the best product I’ve found for my hair in years!

  • Cal

I would like to let Tina know that I would like to buy the 6 unused bottles of Chirstophe Curl Balm. Would she please email me at mom2patrick@myviscom.com and let me know how much she would sell them for.

  • Sandra

Whats up with the Christophe Salon? Why can’t we purchase the balm straight from them. We can’t even contact them to let them know how much we like their product. Whats up with that?? Tina I would also like to purchase a bottle from you if you have any left. My e-mail is scfeathers@yahoo.com

  • Audrey Boler

I need some hydrating curl balm for my daughter’s hair. She is bi-racial and this is all that makes her hair look good. Where can I get some?

  • Peggy

I want my spray back! I don’t like the new green line. You can’t get the conditioner out of the bottle and it doesn’t work nearly as well. I want the hydrating spray for curly or wavy hair back!

  • b.j.

where do i find hydrlyzed wheat protein shapoo?

  • Sharon

They’re all right. Pls bring back Cristophe Hydrating Curl Balm. I’ve been hoarding what little I’ve got left, and it’s almost all gone. Why mess with a good thing? LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS & BRING IT BACK.
    Thank you, “Soft-and-Silky-No-More”

  • suze

I have used every product on the market for curly hair. I’ve used the curl balm, but hated the scent. I recently purchased the curl defining cream and I love it. You just need to use moreof it than the curl balm. The scent is more pleasing also.

    Suze

  • tina

i bought curl balm after cvs discontinued it at big lots. i do not like it much and i have about 6 unused bottles.

  • eeggs

When I noticed that CVS put the balm on clearance. I bought every bottle I could get my hands on. I love this “purple stuff” as my curly haired daughter calls it. I called the salon. They have stopped manufacturing the curl hydrating balm. and they are sold out of the stock that was in their warehouse. They said he (Cristophe – I’m assuming) likes to hear feedback. So call the salon and tell them you want it back! here is the website http://cristophe.com/

  • Sharon

    Eeggs –
Tried Cristophe’s website & they referred to CVS website. Went there & couldn’t find the hydrating curl balm product. Any other suggestions?
Wish I could find this or similar product that would control the curls w/o making them look like a helmet.
    Sharon

  • Patricia

I too with the curly red hair loved the purple curl balm AND the Hydrating Curl Spray. WHERE ARE THEY?????? Please help me. I need them for my curls. Please CVS bring them back. Or a website for me to order from.

  • greta

Please let me know if anyone has found a product that works as well as the Cristophe. has anyone asked CVS to tell os what company made it for them so I can compare the ingredients?
    Thanks

  • Laura

I LOVE, LOVE the Cristophe curl balm. My hair is fine and has limp curls. But the curl balm is wonderful and I love the smell. I need it.. where can I get it.. CVS no longer has it but they need to bring it back. PLEASE!!!

  • donn

I cannot find the hydrating curl balm at any store now. I used to be able to get it at cvs, but not i can’t…I really like the product.

  • dd

i also loved christophe curl balm (the purple one) and can’t find it at any CVS stores in michigan! it smells awesome and works really well. and i’m running out! has anyone had any luck locating this recently?

  • Alio

Hey guys…CVS isn’t responsible for discontinuing the product–Christophe is. If you want to make something happen, complain to him! The salons, however, were not very helpful in shipping any purple they had remaining to me back in June. Just needed it for a wedding. Go to the man…we all should be letting him know how important the purple is/was to our hair sanity.

  • Caprice

    How do we reach Christophe?

  • susan seliger

    Christophe Rep– READ THIS:
WHy don’t you pass along this entire thread of comments to the CEO at Christophe — If 25 women, including myself, are such die-hard fans that they write in, there must be many thousands more like us.

If readers wrote in to me saying they love a Green Blogger I dropped from my site, you bet I’d bring that writer back.

  • Caprice

I too have naurally curly hair and thought the Christophe Curl balm was like everything else I found and liked…here today and gone tomorrow. I searched everywhere within 200 miles and all over the net. I did buy the lime green Curl Defining Contour Creme and it is great! Thak you.

  • Caprice

I’m done with the new green Christophe, I thought I liked it, but I have changed my mind. It does not control the frizzies all day, and it does not smell as good as the purple one. I want my purple one back too!!! Sorry for being a woman and changing my mind, but that is my perogative, isn’t it?

  • Caprice Doty

Please if you have any of the purple Christophe Curl Balm, email me and I will buy it from you …any amount. I am so desperate, I will even share it with someone. My email is cdoty@fairmontstate.edu

  • Caprice

Here I am again to do a check in to see if there are any updates on my sadly missed purple curl balm! I have tried everything, called everywhere and gotten nowhere. We need major help! People don’t recognize me, I’m straightening my hair because I can’t get my naturally curly hair to look right (unfrizzy) without Christophe!

  • Hallsylady

I just dug out a sample size of the Christophe Curl Balm from my bathroom cabinet. I used it and loved it and, like everyone else on this website, went looking all over to find more. Just decided to google Christophe and found out what everone else already knows–it’s been discontinued! This always seems to happen to me when I find something I like. Please continue to blog ideas for curly, frizzy hair because the frizz season has started on Cape Cod. Thanks.

  • Debbie

All of the other users’ comments apply to me! I have naturally hair and like to wear it in a mass of defined curls. Christophe curling balm is the first that allows me to wear my hair in a soft natural curl, without the hardness of a gel. I’ve been to multiple CVS but can’t find it. I’ll gladly buy the balm online or from the salon or manufacturer. I’m tired of wasting my time and gasoline. It’d be worth any extra cost to buy in bulk and have it available, hassle free. Help!

  • Debbie

The new Christophe product is on the shelf! After tracking down a reliable source I spoke with Julie then went into CVS. There was the new product on the shelf right where the previous balm had been located. Also in this new line extension were three additional products including the shampoo and conditioner Julie mentioned. While I haven’t tried the new CURL DEFINING CONTOUR CREME yet, it has the same great aroma! I can’t wait to try it and will write again to report my findings.

  • Debbie

I’m pleased to learn that Caprice and others have tried Christophe’s new Curl Defining Contour Creme and love the results. Unfortunately, I’m not. My search continues. If anyone has found a reliable substitute that does not leave your hair hard and difficult to style please let me know. I’m desperate!

  • Debbie

I now apply Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Ultra Smooth Balm to my hair, then Redken Curl Force 17 Texturizing Spray-Gel and like the results. I used “Sunsilk defrizz Captivating Curls” leave-in conditioning balm today. Results weren’t great; but, good enough to try tomorrow. Best way to urge CVS to bring back the other is to send letters to Rhode Is. htqr., Reg. and Dist. Mgrs. nationwide. Find them on the Internet. If you try this- Good Luck!

  • Debbie

As promised, I’m reporting back on how my hair responded to the Sunsilk Capitaving Curls – while it smells nice and has a nice balm like consistency, it doesn’t come close to the Christophe Curling Balm we all miss. Pantene Pro-V Restorative Frizz Control teamed with Redken Curl Force 17 spray seems to work well. However, the KMS Restoratives balm has worked best! Good luck everyone – happy shopping!

  • Debbie

I’m sorry to say that the manufacturer is not restarting the Christophe Curling Balm we all love. For some reason they think the new one is better. I’ve finally found a product I’m happy with, KMS moistrepair leave-in conditioner. It is a thin liquid, no viscosity; but, does help my hair hold a curl without frizz. Sometimes I finish with a holding spray. I hope everyone else who tries this has the same great results as mine.

  • Debbie

I agree with you, Susan. Unfortunately, I’m not a Christophe or CVS employee, consultant or supplier. However, I’ve been thinking about sending these comments to the rep I contacted in February. I’ll try to reach her again. In the meantime, as suggested in May everyone should write CVS which is headquartered in Rhode Island. You’ll want to contact the Health & Beauty Care buyer, or Category Manager. Good Luck

  • Debbie

GREAT NEWS-CHRISTOPHE OF BEVERLY HILLS HYDRATING CURL BALM IS BACK AT CVS!!! With the purple label! I bought some this evening after telling a Regional Manger about the numerous complaints on SheFinds. When I took them to show the other products, he turned to a new display of travel size hair care products & there it was! It was put out just this past week. I assured them once it was known the product had returned the larger size would fly off the shelf. So start buying everyone! YEAH!!!

  • Debbie

Rosa, ask your friends to check their local CVS stores for the endcap near the shampoos products. That’s where the travel sized Christophe products are displayed. If their store doesn’t have it yet, they will. I was assured all CVS stores will have it soon. Unfortunately, the salon doesn’t, I tried. Good Luck!

  • Debbie

I’m sorry you’re unhappy with your purchase. Since I bought the reintroduced product in eary August I don’t find it the same and prefer the KMS and Redken products. If your Curl Balm is the original in the purple bottle and was purchased earlier this year perhaps one of the other SHEFINDS bloggers would be interested in purchasing it from you. Best of luck!

  • Debbie

Regarding the Christophe Hydrating Curl Balm, CVS as my previous entry stated has the lavender bottle product back in select stores – they even have it participating in the Extra Bucks promotion right now. How ever, even though it looks the same it is not, my hair now frizzes. I’m using KMS for the best curl.

  • Debbie

eeggs, I’m curious as to when you purchased the curl balm on clearance. If it was earlier this year, you may have the original that we love so much. The reintroduced version is back on the shelves in CVS, but it is not the same! It only comes in the travel size, just enough to try and decide if it works well enough for you. Unfortunately, it doesn’t for me. The Christophe salon is not the manufacturer, it just bares his name. I don’t know if he has input. I’d want it if it bore my name.

  • Me

Could this be true…they reformulated it!? WHY!
This was the best product I have EVER found for curly hair…I have been searching every CVS to try and find it again.
I was So happy to hear it would be back on the shelfs at CVS and now to hear they changed the formulation…so very SAD. Why would u change a product that worked?

  • Julie Christiansen

Curl Balm lovers – you did it!!! (See my post on 2/6/08). CVS has brought back the Cristophe Hydrating Curl Balm by popular demand to the CVS.com website. Thanks to all of you for your support of the fabulous formulas in the Cristophe Brand.
