As part of its Go Red For Women Movement, the National Heart Association has declared today National Wear Red Day. Women across the country are encouraged to wear red as a show of support for the movement and its goal of preventing the number one killer of women in America.

National Wear Red Day is only one aspect of a campaign called 'This is the Day' being launched by Go Red in an effort to encourage women to actively educate themselves about the dangers of heart disease. Women of all ages are also being urged to take the Go Red Heart Check-Up Quiz to learn more about their health and their options for care and prevention.

So get involved and throw on a fiery red frock today in support of women staying happy and heart healthy for years to come!

Week In Review: Long Hair Gets The Third Degree, Ikat Invades The Scene, And More

image

Required Reading:

  • Long flowing locks on women of a certain age used to be considered a social faux pas – until recently. Thanks to celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Demi Moore, women over 30 are loving their long hair.
  • It might seem a little crazy for the faint of heart, but that hasn't stopped designers from sticking the Ikat print on everything from fancy cocktail dresses to racy bras and panties. Would you rock the Ikat?
  •  Ladies who can afford the It bags no longer want them, due to the saturation of designer handbags in today's market. They feel like these bags have lost their luxury appeal, and are opting for lesser-known labels instead.
  • Lindsay Lohan's partying antics and rambunctious behavior may have gotten out of hand, but her effortless sense of style remains grounded. We track down the top looks that embody La Lohan, and show you how you can get them too.

Steals And Deals:

  •  Up To 40% Off Silk Blouses At Bloomingdales
  • Up To 50% Off Fashionista-Worty Boots At Net-A-Porter
  • Up To 65% Off Pencil Skirts At Liz Claiborne

Just For Fun:

  • They might look like two simple sheath dresses, but one of these fashion classics carries a much heftier price tag than the other. Can you figure out which one is more expensive?
  • A sexy slingback can make any outfit stand out – especially when it comes in a sparkly pewter. But these two pairs are not created equal. Which slingback will set you back quite a bit?

Guy Friday Find: Travel Essentials For Guys On-The-Go

image

What: Kiehl’s Ultimate Man Refuelers, $39

Why: Even guys need their proverbial “make-up bag” when traveling. Kiehl’s Ultimate Man Refuelers includes three must-have products for every guy: face wash, shave cream, and moisture treatment . What we especially love about Kiehl’s products is that they include essential moisturizing oils and non-drying menthol for an invigorating, clean feeling after use. And what gets us equally excited about this product is the travel bag. Made from 100% EVA and biodegradable materials, this bag is extremely durable with a strong zip top. it is a bit larger than FTA-mandated size for travel, but I’ve now used it on a few trips and cleared security with no issues. Plus there’s room for other products your guy needs when he's away from home!

Mark Presents Fashionista Friendly Superbowl Games

imageimage

If you're like me, the only thing that comes to mind when someone mentions this week's Superbowl game is Tom Brady's extremely talented good looks. As for the football factor…well… as much as men in tight pants are welcome on my television set, I find it fairly boring. Normally, if I'm at a Superbowl party, I dull the boredom with mass quantities of beer and fried food. Then I spend the next week wondering why my skinny jeans don't fit.

So we at SheFinds are happy to announce that Mark, a cosmetics division of Avon that you might have seen Lauren Conrad shilling, is putting on their own online Superbowl extravaganza especially for SuperBowl Sunday's bored fashionistas. FFL, Mark's  online  Fantasy Fashion League, is a  game especially designed for girls who know more about bronzers than first downs.  All a girl has to do is to sign onto the site, draft a team of celebrities and beauty trends from the list provided, and then sit back and watch her points accumulate as those "drafted" celebs walk the red carpet during the pre-game show hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The beauty trends sported by those football happy celebs (and by the celebs appearing in the Superbowl's commercials)  earn points.

Get the best team locked in by 12AM Saturday and you'll be able to win fabulous prizes from Mark.  Instead of just having a hangover and a belly full of Fritos.

Viva Mango! Sexy Spanish Chain Makes Its SoHo Debut

Hurray for Mango, one of my favorite Spanish retailers, for finally jumping the pond! Unlike Zara – its higher-end, older sister store which expanded internationally a decade ago – Euro-cool Mango has stayed mostly in Europe. But on Thanksgiving 2007 the company opened a store in New York's SoHo, and now branches are popping up in major cities around the United States. So in honor of Mango's SoHo debut, and for those of you who have yet to discover the well-priced, funky-chic, work-play clothing-and-accessories emporium, here's a selection of items that'll make you shout, "¡Olé!"

tuktuk

The semi-sheer Tuk Tuk shirt ($79) with front bottons would go great at work. It's feminine and elegant with an artsy flair.

dress

And how cute is this Panacea dress ($79)? We love how the color and width of these strips vary, making a classic look feel fresh. And the every-so-slightly transparent skirt means that this garment can be either suggestive (without a slip), or totally Saturday shopping appropriate (with one).

redgoldtop

Americans tend to be skeptical about European street style (and who can blame us? The Old World is responsible for both the mullet and those wierd astronaut boots that flitted through our stores a few years ago). Personally, though, I love the adventure and flair of Spanish clothes. So if you're ready to strut your stuff like a true Española, pair these adorable shiny red flats ($89) with this rock-n-roll gold waistcoat ($59) or this rhinestone-collared Fiorino top ($59).

Mango has lots of other items for the Euro-loving fashionista, so check out mangoshop.com to see all of the store's delights. And don't forget to check out the outlet section, where some of the very same items I bought last year–and can't wait to wear again in the Spring–are on sale for one third of their original cost.

Seen Around Town: Milly Tank Dress

Lately I have been spotting Milly dresses everywhere I go – the office, cocktail parties, restaurants – you name it.  I don't know what's spawned this mini Milly explosion, but I'm not going to question it as I happen to love these girly, nostalgic frocks. Their simple shape can be dressed up or down, and there's always a bit of embellishment for that special touch.  Below are three favorites:

image
This Tank Cocktail Dress ($355) has a unique graphic pattern in a rich metallic gold and black. Its fitted bodice and slight A-line cut flatters any form.

 image

Throw a blazer on over this Jewel Shift Dress ($445) for the office, and then throw it off for five'o'clock cosmos.

image

The Moire Dress (was $338, now $101.40) exudes classic sophistication with a bit of vintage flare. The dash of pink peeking out from the hem makes it feminine and approachable.

Bargain Breast Enhancement? Liposuction Linked To Increased Cup Size

Some plastic surgery patients have all the luck. Sort of like going on vacation and returning with a perfect tan and clear skin, a good number of women who’ve had abdominal liposuction have noticed a welcome side effect: increased cup size.

A study published last year in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and recently brought to light by W Magazine found that 40 percent of patients experienced significant increases in breast size following abdominal liposuction, and a 2003 study found similar results.

It’s not quite a two-for-one, so we're staying safely in the realm of temporary enhancement – isn't shopping for lingerie more fun than shopping for surgeons anyway? If you're like us and don’t want to bank on a side effect (or, you know, lipo), try one of these Calvin Klein Bras. Or at least wear them to decide if you'd rather be bigger before taking the permanent plunge.

The Push-Up Bra ($38) is comfortable and unwavering – we swear, you won’t have to adjust every 15 minutes. The results look simultaneously natural and gravity-defying. If you’re not in the market for a cleavage boost or want a bit more coverage, the Perfectly Fit with Lace ($39) provides adequate padding but disappears under T-shirts and sweaters.

Would You Wear A Thong On Your Feet?

image
We all know that letting your thong peep out over the top of your jeans is one of the biggest fashion no-no's there is. In fact, it's a crime so heinous some cities are considering making it a finable offense . But what if the visible thong in question wasn't concealing your nethers, but rather exposing your newly manicured tootsies?

Foothongs by Mic were designed to "add some muscle to the hosiery industry", according to designer Marcella Islar. Unlike traditional toeless hose, racy Foothongs thigh-highs are meant to be seen, with their positionable "thong" adding a graphic element where only toe rings and polish dared go before. The Foothongs website even suggests some places you might wear these revolutionary stockings: "the bedroom, the boardroom, the ballroom, or on your honeymoon night (for something new)." They come in lace-topped or plain versions so you can spice things up by wearing them as a lingerie item, or be more discreet in avoiding that other fashion sin—visible hosiery seams with open-toed shoes.

So what do you think? Will you be showing off your thong-tha-thong-thong-thong (pairs start at $15 ) or will you be sticking to the sucked-in safety of your Spanx? Let us know what you think of this new development in the comments section below.

Taste Test: Which Pewter Slingback Will Set You Back?

Pewter seems to be a hot color this winter and we're kind of loving it because it goes with everything. It's a subtler metallic than gold and silver -which can often look tacky – and it is a little edgy too. Which pewter, bow-adorned slingback will you be adding to your wardrobe – the steal or the splurge? See if you can tell which is which:
