A Find: Keds Are Back!

What: Designer Keds

Why: Back in the early ’90s, sporting those white canvas sneakers with the blue rubber “Keds” label on the heel meant you were the epitome of cool. Today, at age 90, the footwear giant is still very much alive, with many of its styles left pretty much unchanged since those days of fame and popularity. But high-end Keds? What on earth are they?? Well, as the blog Closet Therapy has noted, the company has gone through some upgrades on the style front, like introducing designs for BCBG and creating looks inspired by Mischa Barton. The latest is a collaboration with fashion designer Zero Maria Cornejo—she even had her models don the shoes down the runway during New York’s Fashion Week. Certainly a first. Cornejo’s collection includes a blue Jacquard skimmer as well as a Lurex linen one, plus slub cotton ballet flats—complete with a ribbon that ties around the ankle—available in black, ivory, and khaki. Hurry up, because these are selling out real fast—just like how those canvas Keds flew off the racks back in the day.

Price: All styles by Zero Maria Cornejo are $138
