If your hair is anything like mine, it goes through the ringer.

I have nearly waist-length, red, curly hair, which I straighten and/or curl about twice a week. The rest of the time, it’s up in a bun or a French braid (mostly to keep my curls out of my toddler’s reach, but also because I’m a busy lady). #Momlife means that my haircare routine is way more relaxed than it used to be, but if there’s one thing I won’t forego, it’s a hair mask.

In fact it was my mom, a fellow curly-haired woman, who taught me the importance of a good hair mask. Not only are hair masks an easy way to practice self-care, they’re packed with high concentrations of oils and vitamins that revitalize your strands in a way that traditional shampoos and conditioners don’t. The secret lies in the fact you often let a hair mask sit on your scalp for a good long while, giving your hair follicles an extended burst of hydration. Pro tip: If you put a warm towel around your head or sit out in the sunshine while you treat your strands, you’ll get better, more effective results. (Heat opens up your pores, people!)

To recap, I love a good hair mask. The editors at SheFinds are always on the hunt for new beauty products, and because we know deep, lasting hydration is always the end goal, we put the popular pH Labs Argan and Keratin Mask ($42) to the test.

Argan and keratin hair mask for deep hair nourishment

What I really appreciate about the pH Labs Argan and Keratin Mask ($42) is how it tames my frizz. Because, while frizz can (and does) occur in healthy hair, it can also signal underlying damage or dryness. This hair mask directly addresses these concerns, penetrating deep into the hair shaft to provide intense hydration repair and nourishment. It simultaneously strengthens hair by reducing breakage and split ends, and improving texture and shine. So, yeah, no wonder my hair is less frizzy!

Beauty fans likely know all about the amazing benefits of argan and keratin. Just in case, here’s a refresher: Argan oil’s fatty acids work wonders in smoothing and sealing hair cuticles, while keratin is a protein that reinforces the hair shaft. Like its name suggests, the pH Labs Argan and Keratin Mask ($42) is enriched with both argan and keratin to enhance overall hair health.

Luxurious hair mask promoting healthy, shiny hair

Hair masks tend to have their own set of instructions, but pH Labs Argan and Keratin Mask ($42) is super simple to use. Apply to clean, towel-dry hair, combing through your strands with a wide-tooth comb. Then, let it sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing, and voilà!

When using hair masks, my hair stylist gave me a good rule of thumb. Don’t apply them every day, but rather, every time you take an “everything” shower. For me, that’s about once a week.

Ready to welcome your “good hair” era?
