One thing I’ve learned about myself over the last few years is that the only way I’ll wear sunscreen every day like I’m supposed to is if it’s already included in my moisturizer. Even though I totally understand the importance of sunscreen, I just can’t seem to make it part of my everyday routine as a separate product.
Luckily, most brands now make at least one day cream that comes complete with sunscreen already built in. My favorite this summer? CeraVe’s Skin Renewing Retinol Day Face Cream with Sunscreen. I’ll be honest, it’s has mixed reviews around the web, but it works great on my skin.
It’s important to mention that my skin is usually pretty normal, but gets oily in the summer. I think that’s part of the reason this day cream works so well for me. It’s formulated with Zinc Oxide, which seems to counteract any oiliness I’d usually experience during the hot and humid summer months. But if your skin is already dry? Maybe not the best bet for you.
Because this day cream does have Zinc Oxide in it, you do have to do a pretty good job of rubbing it in. It goes on white, but after a few seconds of massaging it onto my skin, it completely disappears.
Sun protection aside, this day cream also has tons of skincare benefits. There are ceramides to help restore the protective skin barrier and retinol to smooth fine lines and texture. What’s not in there? Phthalates, parabens and aluminum.
If you too want to be more diligent about wearing sunscreen on the regular, then I definitely recommend giving this day cream a chance.
