Are you noticing that your iPhone bills are sky high lately? Do you want to find some way to lower your bills and bring them back down to Earth? Using less cellular data is one trick that can result in your paying less overage fees. There are a few simple hacks you can follow that will lower the amount of cellular data you use — starting with these three hacks.
Disable Apps
There’s a good chance you have one too many apps on your phone enabled and using up a great deal of data when it isn’t necessary to do so. If there are apps you rarely use, turn off cellular data for them and save a ton of money. Go to Settings > Cellular > Use Cellular Data For > and now switch off the apps that you don’t find yourself using often.
Turn Off Background App Refresh
When Background App Refresh is enabled, your apps are constantly updating, which requires a significant amount of power and can be draining on your battery. Not all of your apps are in need of a constant and consistent refresh, so change this feature by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. You can disable this feature for individual apps so that your phone updates certain apps that benefit from new data, such as weather apps.
Download Media Instead of Streaming It
Streaming music, movies, and other media takes up a great deal of data. But you can download these instead and watch or enjoy them, which save you data and battery power.
Another option is to turn off cellular data completely by heading over to Settings > Cellular and then turning off Cellular Data.
These actions can seem minor and insignificant, but can actually save you a ton of money in the long run.
