I'll admit it--I'm pretty lucky to have been born with big, blue eyes that often have others asking if I'm wearing color contacts. But, it's not like I walk out of the house and there's a mic drop effect; there are strategies involved in making your baby blues the center of attention.

My secret? Choosing the right eyeshadow. (Trust me, you should see the assortment in my vanity.) Click through to see my favorite shades that help define, enhance and draw attention to your own set.

If you're looking to technically complement blue eyes, look to the color wheel. Blue and orange are opposite one another and thus, complement each other. But instead of something wildly bright, opt for this dual-texture, nectarine set which has a soft, shimmering powder as well as a matte, slightly darker version--perfect for lining the eye and defining the crease.

Not only is rose gold all the rage in the fashion world, but it's also great for blue-eyed girls to wear. Since it has color-wheel complementary orange undertones, blue eyes positively pop when sweeping on this shadow. If you're torn between which exact shade to try, opt for a palette--Urban Decay's newly reissued Naked 3 has 12 of 'em, plus a double-ended brush to create endless smoky, rosy looks.

Looking for something that falls somewhere between lovely and sexy? Go with a purple eyeshadow. Unlike blues and greens, purples accentuate, rather than bury, your baby blues. Plus, this luminous cream shadow from Josie Maran looks even dewier on than in the bottle thanks to its hydrating coconut water base and works for pretty much any occasion.

This is probably my favorite eyeshadow hack ever. And it doesn't require much. Take your favorite bronzer, sweep it over cheekbones, forehead, chin and the bridge of your nose, then apply to your eyelids and up into the creases. The final look feels put-together and polished, not to mention saves you some serious space in your makeup bag, too. If you need a new compact, matte bronzers, like this new one from Tarte provide a more natural look.
