If you’ve been noticing quite a few fine lines or wrinkles on your face, this doesn’t mean your skin will remain in this state forever. Wrinkles are generally associated with aging, but the truth is there are many factors that cause them. You may not realize it, but there are many bad habits that cause wrinkles, and most people are guilty of doing all of them. The good news is that once you break these habits and combat the wrinkles they have caused, you’ll likely notice changes in your skin pretty quickly.

These are the biggest reasons you’re probably causing wrinkles in your skin (and how to stop them):

You’re Getting Too Much UV Exposure

Sure, sunlight can make you happy, but too much of it doesn’t make your skin happy. Overexposure to UV rays causes premature aging to the skin, meaning dark spots, wrinkles and sagging skin. This is why you must always protect your skin, particularly the delicate skin of the face. Use a daily moisturizer with at least SPF 15 in it to limit your face’s exposure to the sun, even on days that aren’t overly bright out.

The Facial Expressions You Make

Unfortunately, making the same facial expression too frequently can result in wrinkles over a long period of time. This is because the skin creases when you smile, frown or whatever else, and over time these creases can turn into wrinkles. While some women see smile lines as evidence of a happy life, others don’t want to see this evidence too early. You can try using a facial roller or stretching your face each night to combat the wrinkles caused by facial expressions.

Your Skin Is Too Dry

Chronic dry skin can very easily lead to wrinkles. The skin is better prepared to repair itself when it is hydrated, plus keeping the skin hydrated can lead to smoother skin over time. Try moisturizing once or twice a day, even if you don’t visibly notice dryness in your skin. This will lead to softer, smoother, younger-looking skin over time.

You Don’t Cleanse Your Skin Properly

Whether you realize it or not, your environment drastically impacts your skin. Micropollutants and bacteria can build up on your face throughout the day and can lead to damage in your skin. This is why it is imperative to cleanse your face thoroughly before bedtime to prevent aging and wrinkles.
