There’s been a big shift towards natural and organic skincare products now that people are aware of how harmful their ingredients can be. “When researching chemicals in skincare products, you will find that there are hundreds of chemicals that may be introduced in products,” explains Joyce Imahiyerobo-Ip, M.D., MPhil, who lists lead, mercury, parabens, fragrance, and triclosan as some of the main ingredients to avoid. “Some people will always try to make the case that the chemicals you are exposed to in these products are minimal so it shouldn’t matter. Personally, I’m not taking that chance.”
