Luckily, a weight loss influencer and TikTok content creator, Samantha Milton, who famously lost over 200 pounds, shared her recipe for a “healthier” chicken salad that’s made with low-fat and protein-rich ingredients and perfect for those who love the versatility of the classic sandwich filling but also want to shed a few pounds. Samantha Milton Preps Her High-Protein, Low-Calorie Chicken Salad
In the intro of her video, the weight loss content creator talks about how chicken salad, while delicious, can be "pretty high in calories because of the mayo." Most conventional chicken salads are loaded with full-fat mayonnaise, which, due to its high fat content, takes away from the nutritional benefits of the lean chicken, veggies, and more. But Samanta's rendition of the salad uses ingredients that are lower in fat and contain extra protein, making it great for weight loss.
To make her chicken salad, Samantha starts with two large cans of chicken, which she drains and adds to a bowl. While some people turn their noses up at canned chicken, the content creator swears by it for chicken salad and has converted other people into loving it. Then, she takes a small shallot and dices it before adding it to the chicken. Next, she chops a few stalks of celery into thin pieces and adds them to the chicken as well.
For some extra flavor and protein, she also chops up some spicy pickles and two hard-boiled eggs, which she chops into very tiny pieces.

Once all of her veggies and chicken are in a bowl, Samantha adds a hearty scoop of low-fat Greek yogurt, which is a popular alternative to regular and 'light' mayonnaise. Greek yogurt adds a creamy and decadent element to the chicken salad, like mayo would, and has a tangy yet neutral flavor that makes it a subtle and versatile base for many recipes.
Then, Samantha begins seasoning her chicken salad by adding some heavy shakes of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. For a little extra flavor and sauce, she adds a squirt of yellow mustard, which gives it more of a classic deli taste. Once all of her ingredients and seasonings are in a bowl, she takes a fork to shred the canned chicken and stir everything together, making a cohesive chicken salad.
For a little extra flavor and to make it more like a buffalo chicken salad, Samantha will add a few drizzles of her favorite hot or buffalo sauce. However, you can keep it plain, as it's just as flavorful and delicious. In her tutorial video, she eats her salad with multi-grain crackers. But you can also eat it with chopped veggies or add it to some multi-grain bread for a tasty sandwich.
