Amazon’s Prime Video offers thousands of movies and TV shows to choose from, but when it comes to original titles made, the streaming service has to be more choosy for what sticks around. Lately, the platform has been producing exciting new titles, like Daisy Jones & The Six and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but just as new titles come, others must go to many fans’ disappointment.

Here are the latest shows the streaming service is rumored to be letting go of:

Three Pines Canceled After One Season

Sadly, Three Pines, a mystery TV series based on a novel series by Louise Penny, had its first and final season last year. Set in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada, the detective show follows Chief Inspector Armand Gamache as he investigates murders and crimes in the area, even touching on the real-life corruption in the Quebec police force as he follows a case about a missing indigenous woman. Unfortunately, the final episode landed on a cliffhanger, making it a much more devastating loss for story completionists.

An official reason was not given for the show’s cancellation, but a Prime representative told Variety that the team is “proud of the work done on the series and the opportunity to work with great partners.”

Fans and those involved with the show were understandably devastated by the news, especially because the show proved successful for the platform. Louis Penny herself wrote on Facebook, “Despite achieving #1 for Prime in U.S., Canada, U.K. and other markets, and top 10 wherever it was broadcast, Amazon has decided to cancel [Three Pines]. I am shocked and upset,” she wrote. “Like any show, it had growing pains, but it was only going to get better and better.” The novelist urged people to contact Prime Video to express their disappointment over the cancellation.

Fans poured out their frustration on the Internet. On Rotten Tomatoes, one fan reviewed the show and wrote, “Finally an exceptional, intelligent detective series. Too bad that Amazon Studios does not recognize quality when they have it. Would like a 2nd season.” Another fan reviewed the show writing, “I’m so sad there’s not going to be a season two. I hope Prime changes its mind.”

Clarkson’s Farm

The second season of Clarkson’s Farm, a British documentary series that follows former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson on his farm in the Cotswolds, came out in February after much anticipation. Despite Jeremy Clarkson’s controversies, the show itself received rave reviews for its entertaining portrayals and tribulations of farm life.

Season three is reportedly expected in 2024, but sources are saying it might be the last season for the hit show after Clarkson made crass remarks about Meghan Markle in an opinion article for The Sun, which became the most complained-about article ever for the publication, drawing in almost 21,000 complaints. Yikes! The Sussexes issued a response and Clarkson an apology, but unfortunately, it might be too late for this car-loving host.

Exclusive sources told Variety that the streaming service will not work with Clarkson on anything beyond what is already commissioned. This means that further seasons of Clarkson’s Farm are unlikely, and the news also affects Clarkson’s The Grand Tour, one of Prime Video’s biggest shows.

One fan wrote they were “gutted” to hear about the news and called Clarkson’s show “hilarious.”

The Grand Tour

As noted, the insider information not only affects Clarkson’s Farm but Jeremy Clarkson’s other popular show on Prime Video, The Grand Tour. On this exclusive Amazon show, Top Gear alums Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May race around the world testing out cars and embarking on shocking adventures. With the rumored news that Prime Video wants to part ways with Clarkson, The Grand Tour might also be coming to an end.

Variety reported that the series will conclude after four more special episodes, with the last to air at the end of 2024. They note, though, that “there’s every chance a final Grand Tour episode could carry over into 2025.”

With enough backlash, it’s possible fans could convince the streaming service to keep their beloved shows. For now, it’s not looking too likely for the above, but here’s to hoping that changes!
