Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are off the air for good. Following their hiatus, they will not return to the third house of Good Morning America, multiple sources revealed to Us Weekly. “Amy and T.J. are out, a decision has been made,” a source tells Us about Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45. “The network is negotiating with them on their exit deals and an announcement.”

Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes’ Relationship Timeline

The co-anchors were originally pulled from the show one week after photos surfaced of the pair cuddling up together the month of November 2022—despite the fact that they were both married to their own respective partners.

One month later, Holmes filed for divorce from now-estranged wife Marilee Fiebig, 45 after 12 years of marriage and with whom he shares a daughter, Sabine. The former CNN correspondent is also the father of daughter Brianna and son Jaiden from his previous marriage to Amy Ferson. Robach and her husband Andrew Shue, 55, divorced after the affair bombshell. The anchor shares daughters Ava, 20, and Annie, 16, with ex-husband Tim McIntosh and is stepmom to Shue’s three sons: Nathaniel, 26, Aidan, 23, and Wyatt, 18.

The rumored couple returned to the air on December 1, 2022, one day after the scandal broke but they did not address the photos. Four days later, ABC president Kim Godwin announced that Robach and Holmes would not appear on air as their relationship continued to be an “internal and external distraction,” according to Variety. Despite the fact that they technically had not violated any company policy, the network “wanted to do what’s best for the organization.”

It was then revealed that the duo was under investigation by the network. “T.J. and Amy are not on camera currently because ABC wants to make sure it’s able to do a full review of their relationship before bringing them back on [the] air,” an insider revealed. “ABC is putting resources in so there are no surprises and they have all the information they can before deciding how to proceed.”

ABC has since refrained from giving a public statement on Robach and Holmes’ status with the network. The temporary hosts, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez, have continued to say that they are “filling in” for Robach and Holmes. The co-anchors are still named in the opening credits of Good Morning America.

According to a source close to Holmes, the co-anchors “have not been terminated” from the news program but ABC is continuing to investigate their relationship (and Holmes’ alleged other inappropriate affairs before Robach). “There are no negotiations about their future. ABC is completing their investigation,” the source says. “While it is unlikely they will return in the capacity they were in–the longer time goes on, it becomes less likely they will return–there are still open lines of communication and further discussions are being had about what will happen.” Apparently, the two co-anchors turned lovers have lawyered up if it comes to litigation.

The ABC personalities’ relationship apparently “blossomed from a close friendship,” according to an inside source that told Us Weekly, noting that their “work trips away together brought them even closer.”

Robach and Holmes’ relationship only got more serious during their hiatus. On December 26, 2022, Robach and Holmes were photographed cozying up together at the Atlanta airport. And then, days later, the two were spotted smooching during their Miami getaway.

Chris Harrison Applauds Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes For Lawyering Up

As a former ABC employee, Chris Harrison, the former Bachelor host, shared his thoughts on the affair scandal and offered to share his lawyer’s contact info if they need it.

“I have a lot of strong opinions about this. This is personal,” Harrison, 51, said during an episode of his podcast cheekily named “The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever” that debuted on Monday, January 16. “A report came out that Amy and T.J. had been let go and that they have lawyered up. And to that I say, ‘Good for you guys. Good for you.'”

Harrison doesn’t believe that a consensual relationship between “equal” coworkers is cause for termination. “I’ve been in this business for a long time. You sign these contracts, there are morality clauses in there,” he explained. “Is it morally reprehensible to fall in love? Because that’s what they’ve done. That is the crime that they are being punished for, is falling in love. And is it morally reprehensible? Is it against the law to fall in love with someone at work that is equal to you? They’re on level footing, they were cohosts. Is it illegal or wrong to fall in love with someone equal to you and to follow those feelings?”
