Although the start of fall means cozy layers and pumpkin spiced lattes, one of the downsides of the end of the summer season is saying goodbye to summer wardrobe favorites such as mini skirts and short shorts. However, the ultra-stylish Anne Hathaway just showed us that we don’t have to relegate short shorts to the back of the closet now that we are nearing the start of a new season by demonstrating how to give them a fun yet casual autumnal spin.

It seems like the key to pulling off short shorts at the start of the fall season is to pair them with oversized blouses – which is exactly what the 39-year-old Oscar-winning-actress did when she was spotted running some errands in New York City. Andy Sachs would be proud!
For her casual day in the Big Apple, the WeCrashed star wore a cute pair of white La Ligne short shorts with an oversized white long-sleeved blouse also by the same brand, which she wore with some buttons undone for that added effortless chicness. (We were obsessed with her bright yellow Valentino shorts and shirt dress combo from a few months back – and we are just as enamored with this look too!)

The Devil Wears Prada actress wore her hair in a simple pony, and added some color to her all-white ‘fit with some Dolce and Gabbana ‘Majolica’ embellished flat sandals (although we think a pair of closed shoes or even ankle boots would be a great footwear swap when the weather gets a little chillier) and a hot pink Valentino One Stud Nappa bag worn over her shoulder to leave her hands free for her shopping bags. She finished her look off with some oversized round black Bulgari shades and a natural pink lip. Perfection!
