Apple is facing backlash over its latest attempt to bring more smart technology into people’s homes, with some users questioning whether its newest device is worth the hefty price tag.
The tech giant recently unveiled the Apple HomeView, a smart display designed to combine entertainment, personal assistants, and smart home controls in one convenient device. However, some Apple users are already comparing it to existing products from Amazon and questioning whether the company has introduced anything truly new. Read more about the new product and how the internet reacted below.

Apple Announces New $299 HomeView Smart Display
Apple introduced HomeView as its first dedicated home assistant display, featuring a 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, built-in speakers, and an adjustable design that can sit on a tabletop or be mounted on a wall.
The $299 product can reportedly serve as a central hub for people's homes, allowing users to listen to music, make FaceTime calls, view photos, check their calendars, and control their other smart home accessories. The display also features Siri AI and 'Apple Intelligence,' with personalized content for different household members through facial recognition.
Users can access apps and widgets, manage their connected devices, and ask Siri questions using voice commands. Apple is claiming HomeView is aimed at making it easier for users to manage their daily routines from one screen.
Apple Users Complain About HomeView & Compare It To Amazon's Alexa Online
Despite its range of features, Apple's latest release is already drawing backlash from people who aren't convinced the HomeView offers enough to justify its $299 price tag. Some users have pointed out that its features have already been around for years, like through Amazon's Echo products. With cheaper alternatives around, some Apple fans aren't convinced that HomeView is worth the investment.
"So just because a device has a cellular antenna and a back camera, it automatically turns into a $2000 device?" asked an Instagram user.
"Because why are iPhones so expensive when other Apple devices like this go for $299? Same goes for iPads and MacBooks; it doesn't make sense."
"So basically it's an iPad with a dock," another suggested. "Oh, so basically Apple Alexa?" a user asked. "Got it."
"This is a product we definitely don't need," another commented. "Another way to listen and see you in the privacy of your home."
"It's basically an Alexa with a touchscreen," a user wrote.
