A new iPhone model, the iPhone 18, as well as a series of other devices, was unveiled at Apple’s latest event this week, and it’s already getting negative feedback.

The mega tech company held its annual event, where they reveal their latest collection and series of products, including iPhones, this past Wednesday. During their event, the company introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which include a new set of features ranging from the camera function to battery life. Apple also surprised viewers with the debut of its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. But despite the new technology, some social media users are questioning whether the iPhone 18 Pro offers enough of an upgrade from the previous generation to justify buying a new phone. Read more about the event and new phone announcement below.

Apple Just Unveiled Its Latest iPhones During Latest Event

On September 9th, in Cupertino, California, Apple revealed several new products and updates, including the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The event also marked the debut of the company's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, as well as new AirPods and Apple Watch models.

According to the tech company, the iPhone 18 Pro in particular comes with Apple's new A20 Pro chip, which is designed to improve performance and AI capabilities. It also features an upgraded 48-megapixel main camera with a variable aperture, giving users more control over lighting and depth in their photos, along with improved battery performance and an updated display.

While the iPhone 18 Pro does bring several hardware and performance improvements, some of its changes may feel more incremental to owners of recent iPhone models. The iPhone 17 Pro already introduced Apple's A19 Pro chip and major camera and display upgrades, meaning some users may not see enough of a difference between the two generations to feel the need to upgrade.

iPhone Fans Aren't Impressed By The New Device Prior To Its Launch

Even with the new features, some Apple users and other social media commenters are already pushing back against the iPhone 18 Pro, with some saying the latest device looks and feels too similar to the iPhone 17 lineup. Online reactions have included complaints that Apple has not made enough major changes to justify another expensive upgrade, particularly for people who purchased an iPhone 17 only a year ago.

"Nope," wrote a user on Reddit. "My 17 Pro is not even 1 year old yet; I bought it in November last year."

"Same," echoed another. "I don't feel any slowing down whatsoever."

One Apple user wrote that they were "disappointed" by the latest iPhone announcement, as another added that they were "not upgrading till the 20th" edition of the iPhone.

"Everything is literally the same, and I have zero performance lag issues," they continued.

"I'm happy with my 17 Pro and have no interest in upgrading," a user noted. "The differences between the two are so insubstantial that they almost feel like the same phone."
