Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter, Apple Martin, is steadily carving out her own path in the entertainment industry.

The 21-year-old just dropped her debut single, “Satellites,” in collaboration with indie rock duo Jade Street—made up of Eli Meyuhas and Zachary Zwelling—on Tuesday.

In the accompanying black-and-white music video, Apple keeps it effortlessly cool in a tiny white tank top paired with black shorts and boots, her blonde hair worn loose and styled simply. She finishes the look with sparkling earrings for a touch of glam.

Internet Reacts to Apple Martin’s Singing

Under the YouTube comments, internet users rushed to share their reactions, with many pointing out her off-key singing.

“Omg, this is terrible,” said one fan. Another user said, “She does not sound like this live. She could barely carry the tune.” A third commented, “Maybe 20 years of coaching may improve her voice.” Someone else noted, It’s basically the same chords as a Coldplay song, with some atmospherics and a pre-recorded studio vocal. Stop making fetch happen.” One person said, “Watch the live video; definitely a different voice. Thanks, Auto-Tune.” Another quipped, “Did you guys hear the original vocals for this? There’s live footage of this show and probably her nerves, but she did not sound like this audio. They just slapped a better recording over this performance.”

Fans have noted that Apple has some big shoes to fill if she hopes to follow in her father’s footsteps, the legendary Coldplay frontman.

Apple Martin Opens Up About Her Work Ethic

She has also faced criticism for her foray into modeling, with many pointing to nepotism as a factor. Despite this, Apple has secured several high-profile campaigns, including a recent shoot for Self-Portrait, a collaboration with Gap alongside her mother, and her runway debut at Paris Fashion Week for the Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show.

On top of her budding entertainment and modeling career, she is a student at Vanderbilt University, where she studies law and history.

She recently took a moment to address her privilege and share insights into her work ethic.

“I know this is not a normal way to grow up by any means. But my parents did a really good job of instilling in me that I shouldn’t be entitled to anything. I have to work,” she told The Daily Telegraph

Apple revealed that she stays grounded by “hanging out with my friends, and trying to have a normal college experience makes me feel more normal. That’s how I like to unwind. We’ll sit down and do little guitar-playing sessions; one person will play, and the others will sing. I also love watching reality TV with my friends. There was one day we spent five hours on the couch and just watched old episodes of America’s Next Top Model.”
