Obama Responds To Racist Trump Video
Barack Obama was recently featured on Brian Tyler Cohen's podcast, No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen, during which the host was speaking about the level of cruelty that has been normalized during Trump's administration and asked Obama for his opinion on how the nation could come back from it.
"It is true that it gets attention. It's true that it's a distraction," Obama responded. "But as I'm traveling around the country, as you're traveling around the country, you meet people, they still believe in decency, courtesy, kindness."
"There's this sort of clown show that's happening in social media and on television," he continued, "and what is true is that there doesn't seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sense of decorum and a sense of propriety and respect for the office."
Donald Trump Posts Racist Video
On February 5th, an A.I.-generated video that depicted Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys, and other Democratic figures and politicians as wild animals, as "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" played in the background was posted to Donald Trump's Truth Social page.
The video was seemingly supposed to emphasize claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election, but the main focus was on the racist stereotypes associated with the Obamas and their faces on the bodies of monkeys.
Despite it being taken down rather quickly, it didn't take long for both internet users, politicians, and media outlets to call out the president and shame him for sharing such an offensive video on his platform. Later, he claimed he did not watch the entire video before sharing it, and he has not apologized for it.
