If you subscribe to a monthly beauty box, you know how much fun it is to receive that package in the mail every month. It’s like a little present to yourself, dropped off at your door every few weeks!
Beauty box subscriptions encourage you to treat yourself on a regular basis-something we often forget. With most beauty boxes priced between $10 to $30, it’s a no-brainer to sign up for them. At those prices, it’s a steal! The part that’s always a little bit harder to decide on, is which is the best beauty box to subscribe to.
There are so many subscription boxes on the market, from cooking subscription boxes to clothing subscription boxes, but beauty boxes seem to be the most popular. From original companies like Birchbox to newer additions to the market, all of them offer such enticing products. So, how do you decide on which one (or two) beauty boxes to subscribe to?!
We compiled a list of four of the best beauty subscription boxes available, according to customer reviews. We ranked the beauty boxes by their overall star rating. Check them out below!
#4 Beauty Box: Birchbox
Review: 3.85 out of 5 stars
Price: $10
Frequency: Monthly
What You Get: Birchbox sends you 5 beauty samples every month. The samples include everything from haircare, skincare, makeup, nail polish, and fragrance. This original beauty subscription box is amazing for discovering new beauty brands that aren’t too mainstream yet. The products in this box are almost always sample sizes, but they’re a generous sample size.
What Customers Said About It:
“I love Birchbox! A few years ago I received a 3-month subscription as a Christmas gift and I fell in love! The boxes are great quality and so cute, many ways to repurpose or organize! But the products included are all legit sample sized! Each month you receive 5 and some months there’s a bonus! And with each box, I am introduced to a new product! Of course some I don’t like but I give away.. and the ones I do love I purchase! The sample sizes provide plenty of product to find out if you like it and gives you the opportunity to try out new looks! And a huge plus is if you are going on vacation you will soon after a few months have almost everything you need in a perfect size!! I love Birchbox and suggest for anyone looking to try new products. I will say that I feel that Birchbox provides more skin care products than the other monthly subscriptions!”
#3 Beauty Box: Allure Beauty Box
Review: 4.24 out of 5 stars
Price: $15
Frequency: Monthly
What You Get: Allure magazine sends customers 5 beauty products every month (with a 6th bonus item occasionally). The box often includes a mix of full-size and sample size products. The brands included are often ones that would be featured in Allure and are on the high-end scale.
What Customers Said About It:
“The products I receive range from Burberry, Sunday Riley, Smashbox, YSL, Tata Harper, Juicy Beauty, Drunk Elephant, Becca, Morphe (just to name a few). I seriously lovee this box and don't anticipate canceling it anytime soon. Also, in January 2018 they include a full-size serum from Sunday Riley worth $85!!! talk about value.”
“This is by far better then ipsy in my opinion. For one, you get more value in the box and I am always impressed with the quality brands that come in my box. I am subscribed to both at the moment but I would definitely choose this over ipsy because of the brands you get and variety of the product. Sure ipsy has a bag but allure has so much more makeup and skincare which is why I'm subscribed! Plus you get brands like MAC, NARS, and Becca! I just got a Becca highlighter in my box this month and it is amazing!”
#2 Beauty Box: Ipsy
Review: 4.36 out of 5 stars
Price: $10
Frequency: Monthly
What You Get: Ipsy is another affordable beauty subscription that sends you 5 products every month inside of an adorable makeup bag! The products and bag change every month so you always get new items to test. The products are a mix of both pricy and affordable options. It includes high-end, mid-range, and drugstore brands. Although this bag does contain cheaper makeup products, many of the brands are just as popular, while some are up and coming. Occasionally, you’ll even get some full-size products in this bag. You can go online and review what you received every month, in addition, to buy the larger version of the products you received. Your monthly review effects the future products you receive.
What Customers Said About It:
You literally cannot go wrong with this subscription! Every month you get a new makeup bag (worth it in itself!!!) and full/sample size products!!! Honestly I thought that there were hardly be any full size but they do an amazing job by giving you a great balance of full and sample size items! You get to try so so many different products that you normally wouldn't buy, and it really gives you a bang for your buck! Honestly this subscription is amazing though though because it allows you to really play with the makeup you use and if you don't like something or end up with too many of one item....give them away!!!! I seriously have nothing negative to say because I've never spent $10 a month as good as this!”
“I received my bag today and I love everything in it. I still can’t believe this is only a $10 bag! 3 of the 5 items were full size and the RV was $57.91. Crazy.”
#1 Beauty Box: Boxycharm
Review: 4.69 out of 5 stars
Price: $21
Frequency: Monthly
What You Get: Although this box is over $20, customers are always pleased with the value of the box. Boxycharm is known for including over $100 worth of beauty and makeup products every month. The great thing about this beauty box is that they often include full-sized products. If you’re interested in collecting larger products and not testing a bunch of samplers, this is the box for you.
What Customers Said About It:
“I started getting Ipsy and Boxycharm around the same time and have been getting both for at least 6 months now. I am considering canceling the Ipsy subscription and just keeping the Boxycharm. Boxycharm sends you 5 full sized products for $21 a month, and let me tell you I love it! I look forward to getting my box every month. I know a few times I see that customers receive products broken from being mailed but I haven't received any broken products in my time yet. Every month you normally get some sort of palette, a face product (skincare, brushes, primer), then some sort of pencil (lip, eyeliner, brow), a lip product, then a fifth random item. The value of these boxes are normally over $100. I would say every month I receive at least one item I know I will completely use up that is worth more than the $21.”
