Air Fryers Sold in Best Buy Recalled Due To Fire Hazards

Air fryers can be a handy kitchen gadget that play a role in a range of healthy recipes. Unfortunately, though, over 200,000 Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens sold at Best Buy have been recalled for the safety of consumers. The CSPC warns that "The air fryers can overheat, causing the handles to melt or break, posing fire and burn hazards. Additionally, the air fryer ovens can overheat and the glass on the door can shatter, posing fire, burn and laceration hazards."

This recall follows 24 reports of overheating, melting, or glass shattering, and six reports of air fryers catching fire. While no injuries have been reported, it's important to take this recall seriously for your safety.

Insignia Air Fryers and Insignia Air Fryer Ovens with the following model numbers are subject to this recall:

  • NS-AF34D2
  • NS-AF5DSS2
  • NS-AF5MSS2
  • NS-AF8DBD2
  • NS-AF10DBK2
  • NS-AF10DSS2

These model numbers can be found on the underside of each product. Additionally, the INSIGNIA brand name can be found at the top of every unit, the sizes of which range from 3.4 to 10 quarts. Recalled products were sold between November 2021 and November 2023.

If you are in possession of a product with one of these model numbers, CPSC urges you to stop using it immediately. Rather than returning the recalled units to Best Buy, you should visit https://www.recallrtr.com/airfryer, when you can find instructions for receiving a refund; you'll need to submit of a photo of the product and the model number, as well as a purchase receipt. From there, you will receive a refund in the form of a check or a Best Buy store credit.

For more info, questions, or concerns, you can contact Best Buy at 1-800-566-7498 or visit http://www.bestbuy.com/productrecalls.

Staying aware of recalls like this is an important part of keeping you and your family safe and healthy. Other recent recalls include eye ointments linked to infection and charcuterie potentially contaminated with salmonella. Stay safe!
